this guy that dumped me, said he wants to be friends still. long distance thing so havent seen each other even by chance yet. at first he wrote back a few emails pretty quickly within few days. used to write to each other daily when we were together. you know last email took him 2 months to write back with no good reason--he checks his email every freakin' day!!!!. was begining to think he would never write back. what should i do?? what does this mean? is he trying to send me a message that he thinks i suck? doesnt he know it is even more hurtful, is he trying to hurt me on purpose? i cant even ask him these questions anymore since i havent even called him since he dumped me, and im scared to ask him for fear he wont write any more. why do guys play these kind of games??how can someone just cut you out of their life and not expect you to care how they are doing? i just wrote small little email , and never asked to get back together or anything.i dont know why he wrote back 2 mos later

It seems to me that once he dumped you, you have not been able to get over him! The key word here is that he is no longer your boy friend, he does not have to email you back in a certain time frame! He doesn't have to ever email you again if that is what he chooses. Yes it is sad and yes most guys and girls for that matter always use the "lets still be friends" line. But most times it never works out. You need to move on from this guy and find someone who does care about you and does want to know how you are!

The first key word is "dump." If a guy dumps you, he doesn't want to be with you and he more than likely doesn't want to be 'friends,' either. So, no, when a guy dumps a girl and says he still wants to be friends, he doesn't mean it. On the other hand, if it's a mutual breakup because a relationship isn't working out for whatever reason (long distance, pet peeves, etc), it is possible to stay friends. Sometimes two people are better off as just friends. Hope this helps.

Sorry, just being polite. What else are you going to say when you dump somebody? I guess you could be brutally honest, but it wouldn't exactly make you feel great. It's bad enough you have to dump the person to begin with.

They're just saying it to be polite. After all how would you feel if a bf you were dating at the time said "I think we should break up, and I don't ever want to see you again!".

This not only applies to males, but also applies to females as well. It is one way of breaking up with a person gently, rather than one abrupt finish.

He wants you to continue liking him for his own selfish reasons. Head games suck! Just move on.

Well it depends on what kind of friend he wants to be to you. It sounds like he may just ned space before trying to be friends.
