to Mark... I am trying to find the truth... please answer my question.... i dont doubt that muslim scholars were intelligent 1400 years ago... i just cant work out why 1400 years later they are so paranoid about criticism of their religion !

I was brought up a Catholic , but myself rejected religion long ago. I think it absurd that the Pope brings into question Muslim violence , while ignoring the crusades. I think it it is imperative that all learn history and do not ignore the fact that the Moors invaded Spain long before the Crusades..... but above all I WANT PEOPLE TO LIGHTEN UP AND NOT HATE EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEIR BELIEFS ARE DIFFERENT.
lAST YEAR IN LONDON OVER 50 PEOPLE WERE KILLED BECAUSE OF FANATICS (INCLUDING MUSLIMS) AND "WESTERN" PEOPLE GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO NOT BLAME INNOCENT MUSLIMS WHO DONT SUPPORT THE MURDERERS... BUT IT DOESNT SEEM TO HAPPEN THE OTHER WAY AROUND. IF I AM WRONG THEN I CALL ON MUSLIMS TO RENOUNCE VIOLENCE ...

to "ok" .... i did not accuse anyone today of being violent.... i asked why the reaction to being accused of being violent is to be violent. The Christian crusaders were very violent, but when that is told in a book, or a documentary, you dont see Christians banging ther bibles do you... my point is that muslims need to lighten up !

I heard the Nun was a local political issue. Back off I think. Somali or Sudan Have other problems.
These violent criminals are mentally deficient. They have committed so many crimes on innocents they must rush to the offensive and confrontational to avoid a closer examination.
And they have the justification in the koran. The American muslim must know the islamic murderers are here and stay silent for fear.

so they should take up anything at all thrown at them even from the leader of largest faction of largest religion talking like an ignorant person and say we are peaceful any other ignorant nutters want to add any other comments.
to all the people who think they know everything and are always keen to comment about Islam what have you read from your own interest about it? instead of being fed by media.
the idiots who killed an innocent nun are probably similar in their knowledge about Christianity following blindly whats told to them by their leaders.
and don't tell me all Christians are peace loving. there are proportionally more nutters in Christians who hate other people for their belief, race, origin, skin colour. that will not be considered as "Christians are accused of being violent" would it?
so you accuse someone of being violent and then keep throwing controversial statements at them. good way to live peacefully.

However, i also find it odd that catholics and protestants spent decades shooting and blowing each other up in Britain.
I also find it odd that cults brainwash vulnerable people to commit mass suicide.
I also find it odd that the branch davidians chose to shoot at the american authorities with tragic repercussions.
I also find it odd that a buddhist cult dispersed nerve gas in a japanese subway.
Do you think that all these people were accurate representations of their religions?

Their who;e culture is so different from ours that I don't think we will ever see eye to eye. Violence seems to be part of their nature no matter what they say. I can't really put my true opinion down as it would cause all kinds of protests and angry responses. But I think you get the picture.

If the pope said Christians or Buddhists or Hindus were violent, there would be no great reaction. But if you say this about the Muslims, they fly off the handle and kill people. Muslims love to kill...almost as much as President Bush.

To Mark: You have got to be kidding!!!Freedom? I guess the buzzword in your answer was "mankind" because I didn't see the Taliban giving women freedom to do anything except die. Freedom? Women in Saudi Arabia can't even drive a car. What kind of "freedom" does Islam give women?

It is you. If you look carefully, we have created an atmosphere of distrust. Four Muslim countries have been invaded by western forces and countless numbers have died and the Catholic pope goes to criticise them, it is no wonder they react that way is it?
