I'm new to the city. My gf is a native. Her bday is soon and would like to make arrangements for her and her friends to meet up for a bday dinner. What is a great place that is not to expensive so not to discourage people from coming. Any suggestions?

Try "Tagine". 537 9th Avenue. At 40th Street. It's Moroccan. Make sure you call ahead to 1) make a reservation for the group and 2) make sure you are going on a night the BELLY DANCERS will be there! When we went for my friend's b-day, we all got up and joined them! 212-564-7292.

Patsy's Pizzaria. There are a few locations and they do family style dinners, so you can order a big plate of pasta or pizza or salad for many people to share. It is fun for birthdays I think.
