Zinfandel Port. Many are made in CA in the Sierra Foothills as well as Sonoma. Go great as a dessert.

If you like a crisp, somewhat dry white wine, try Pinot Grigio. A slightly less dry, yet still crisp is Chablis Blanc. These are great with seafood and shellfish. Also, spinach or pasta italian dishes.
If you like a sweet wine, try Riesling. It is kind of a dessert wine, and goes well with fruit pies and fruity desserts.
If you like a slightly bitter, more robust taste try Cabernet Savignon or Merlot. These go well with beef and pork dishes.
I personally like a slightly sweet, more tangy blush wine with meat and chicken, called White Merlot. White Merlot lacks the "bite" that White Zinfendel has, and it is smoother. It is a touch sweet for my favorite seafood dishes, where I would sub for Pinot Grigio.

For a red, try a Malbec. Its hearty and jammy with a little spice.

For a white, try viognier. Its light with a hint of sweetness and enough fruit to last the winter.

I assume you like reds cause of your name. Try some from Spain, Chili or South Africa. Merlots are usually smoother, with the shiraz/syrahs being a bit...... stronger? I like all of them, but my sisters seem to like merlots better. Good luck!

Pinot grigio if you want white, Pinot Noir if you like red. Bella Sera makes both very yummy.

If you are a newbie to wine, Aussie reds and German whites are good standbys. Let your taste evolve from there.
