No it is not true.

there are manohole lids
which has-square & rectangular
shapes.

Most of the times, the
asthetic looks are determined
by the engineer and a lid
is recommented, to suit.

They are:

Square.

Rectangular.

Circular.

It depends on the shape of the opening.

Most are circular, because of the use of pipes.
