How much should I charge? I don't want any puppies though. I just want to take him and stud him a couple times before I get him neutered. Also besides what I should charge for this, what is the best way to advertise this besides the newspaper? Thanks all!!

AKC papers alone mean absolutely nothing except to say that the dog is of the breed it is suppose to be. Just because a dog has AKC papers does not mean it should be used for breeding..most should not. Before even considering standing your boy at stud he needs to be at least 2 years old, he needs to have had and passed health tests (not just simple vet exams), he needs to have been show and pointed/championed or have been evaluated to insure he meets the breed standard,he needs to have a nice even temperament and he needs an impeccable pedigree. Also if standing at stud you need to make sure the female has all of the above plus a negative burcellosis test.
If you have a quality stud then people with quality females will seek you out, no need for real advertising other then posting pictures and pedigree in the breed magazine.
When considering breeding the male and the female should have something to offer back to the breed by way of betterment not just another litter of puppies. Also stud fee depends on quality, pedigree, titles,

Tell me about your Schnauzer,, Why would I want to pick him as a stud??
Is he a Champion?? Does he have his OFA & CERF certifications??? Has his thyroid been tested??? How old is he??

While we do use others stud dogs here, the research that goes into picking the proper one sometimes takes years and can cost hundreds of dollars.
The reality is that unless you put in the time and effort to prove your dogs value as a stud, the only ones that will ever consider him are back yard breeders (and they would probably want to breed him to their Poodle or Pug)

Answer a few questions
What titles besides CH does your dog hold? Has he been specialed? At what shows?
What is his OFA rating or Penn Hip certification?
When was his last CERF test done?
When was the last thyroid pannel done and what were the results?
These are questions breeders are going to ask.
So unless you know the answers to these and a few more you most likley are not going to stud your AKC papered dog out to anything but a back yard breeder.

The newspaper is about the only place you can advertise to find other backyard breeders like yourself. No one with a good bit ch is going to be looking for a male in the paper. Good breeders with quality females plan breedings a year or more out and pick a male based on his line, health, and conformation. You are really looking for another person looking to make a buck for their dog like you, giving no care to the betterment of the breed.
I can't imagine you can get more than a couple hundred bucks.

Unless your dog is a CH and proven, most breeders will not use him. And the majority of breeders have their own studs. So advertising your male for stud will probably be a waste of time and also, once your male has mated, you will have a dog with a different personality and probably problems with lifting, humping, etc...

As a breeder, I NEVER use someone elses stud, I have my own and know he is free from genetic problems. You will have to have your dog tested and it will cost you a few hundred at least.

If you do all that and stud him out, the most you can ask for an un-proven stud (never sired a litter) and non-champion, is probably about 250-400.00 but most people do not want to pay, they want to to do pick of litter in exchange.

It really is not worth it..

No, you will violate AKC standards. in case you care in any respect approximately your woman, you will no longer breed her to a prevalent, because of the fact the better domestic dogs can get caught in the beginning canal and die or kill the mummy (your woman). you may breed a smaller male to a bigger woman, yet doing it any incorrect way around, as you decide directly to, is merciless.

Well, I'm glad your being very responsible with this.
You could put an add like this:
AKC REG. Mini. Schnauzer For Stud.
I'd charge $450.00.
Describe he's color,
his attudite
then your number
Good Luck!
