my dad already hates her and if he finds out that she has been pissing on everything, then he is going to kill her.

First, go with the obvious--is her box clean, and is it somewhere she can easily get to it?

If her box is in good shape, and she's going places like in the shower, and on plastic, in "cool" places, it could be that your cat has a urinary tract infection, which should be treated by your vet.

Also, I've noticed that my cats will go where they're not supposed to if they come across some other stong-smelling odor--be it dirty laundry, something smelling of smoke--trying to cover up the new scent with their own.

And if the smell gets only partly cleaned up (if any scent remains) the cat may return to pee there. In this case, I would say to be sure that when you're cleaning up one of her puddles (for lack of better verbiage), you get ALL of the smell out. Use one of the odor eliminators with enzymes so they actually destroy the odor molecules. I've been using Zero Odor, and it seems to work better than any of the others I've tried (and I've tried Urine Gone, Nature's Miracle, Petzyme)...gets the smell AND the stain.

Good luck!

Your dad's anger and hatred toward her are not helping her to behave. Your anger isn't helping her, either. I know you are frustrated, and believe me, I have been there several times.

First of all, how old is your cat? Is she a kitten? Has she just been through a major change in her life? Cats pee to communicate. They don't seem to understand that the majority of humans don't speak "pee" quite as well as they do! If she's a kitten, it's possible she just can't make it to the litterbox or doesn't understand completely. When you're home and awake, set an alarm to off every hour on the hour. Put her in her litterbox. Most times, she'll jump out and go play. But it will help her get the idea. When you're away or asleep, put her in the bathroom with food, water, a towel and her litterbox to help her get the picture.

There's a type of cat litter that you can buy in pet supply stores called Cat Attract. You might want to use that until she gets the idea. Feliway will help calm her down and keep her from peeing on everything. To get urine stains and smell out of furniture and carpets, buy some OUT! You can find it in wal-mart in the pet supplies. It's an enzyme cleaner that cleans up all organic stains.

Whenever your cat has an accident, try not to make a big deal out of it and just clean it up as soon as possible. That's easier said than done but please try. It won't last forever. As she gets more secure, she will quit. Good luck in getting through this!

It could well be that your cat is afraid of your dad: Cats aren't stupid about these things.

Is the litter box kept clean? Cats prefer clean boxes for the same reason humans prefer clean toilets.

Is there blood in the urine? If so, take her to the vet NOW. She is very sick!

If you're not sure why she is refusing her box, try covering where she has been going with a plastic tarp. That's what I had to do with one of mine after he got over a urinary tract infection.

However, if your cat is doing this because she and your dad mutually dislike eachother, you may well be better off giving her away.

Good luck.

The first thing you need to evaluate is her health. Take her to the vet to confirm or rule out any infections. If a cat has an infection that causes pain while eliminating, they will begin to avoid the box because they associate it with the pain.

Have you changed litter on her recently? Some cats don't take well to change, and the litter may be too aromatic for her.

Second, is she spayed? Is she peeing on things or spraying them? Cats pee on flat surfaces, but spray vertically. Determine which one it is. If she's spraying and not spayed, have her spayed....if she IS spayed, but spraying.....you're going to have to evaluate what's going on in your home. Oftentimes cats begin spraying out of nowhere because of stress. A change in her environment could trigger such behavior. A new pet, a new person living there, someone moving out, etc. If this is the case, you'd need to pay a little more attention to her, and try to reduce the stress levels in the home.

You're going to have to get the smell out of everything she's peed on. Go pick up on enzymatic spray designed specifically for cat urine odors. You're going to have to soak some things because the pee can go out and down pretty far....and they have an excellent sense of smell. If it still smells like a toilet to her, she'll be tempted to continue using it as a toilet.

Keep a close eye on her....if you catch her peeing (or spraying) something, squirt her with water from a bottle or squirt gun. If done consistantly, a cat starts to associate negative consequences with peeing in places other than the designated box.

But for starters....make sure the box is clean, and get her checked out by a vet.

A copy of Cats for Dummies might be called for, as well. I love it, and there are many suggestions and solutions for improper elimination problems.

Good luck!

Is the litter box clean? Try also another kind of litter, my cats don't like the litter that has the scent in it ( blue chrystals). I use the scoopable litter and if you scoop it every day the cat will appreciate it. I prefer the Johnny Cat scoopable litter. Good luck.

You cannot punish a cat for not using their litter box, they will not understand and will only make the situtation worse. You need to completely clean the box, add new litter, then put kitty in the room with the box and close the door.

For some reason she has either been scared or is getting even for a slight that someone did to her.
She also may have an infection-cats will not use a litter box when this happens-check with Vet.

1. Bring her to the vet. Your cat is not stupid. Sometimes odd behavior to us is their only way of communicating that something is wrong. Don't punish her for something beyond her control, or natural instinct. The vet can help explain many behaviors. A well spent visit.

2. If your Dad is abusive, find her a new home. A terrorized animal is not what you want. If you don't value her life, please call your vet. Many of them find homes for unwanted cats, or take them on as residents.

Good luck and warm regards.

well something simple as a urinary tract infection can cause this. Taking your cat to the vet will be the first thing you should do. If that checks out ok it could be behavioral, any change in a cat's schedule or environment can cause these type of behavioral issues.

sometimes cats dont like to pee where there food is. so if ur food is in the same room try moving it. Or another reason my be: if i used to not pee on everything and then just started it up for some reason. than it may have a urinary track infection. you can go to the store and buy food for that and it helps. its not to expencive either. i had to do it with one of my cats.
