I think that Sac_Baby_Girl had a very informed answer. I can tell you from experience that cutting your calories too low is such a backfire. I lost a ton of weight by eating super, super low calories. I ended up with anemia and a slower metabolism. Now, I weigh more than I have in a long time because part of that weight loss was muscle which helps to keep your metabolism reved up. The backfire is that you body starts to gain weight easier...that sucks!

You can eat a completely balanced 1,200-1,800 (depending on height and activity level) calorie diet and stay healthy while losing weight. You should start counting calories for one week and keep a food journal. You may be consuming calories that you don't know about. If you want to STAY slim, you should lose weight in a balanced way. I've been doing this now and the weight is coming off. :)

I wish you good luck!

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

The best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise. This is what they do in military basic training. Works like a dream - naturally. The heavy guys slim down, and the skinny guys fill out. Stay away from fancy diets and drugs. I hope you take this as helpful advice, but the basic problem with being overweight is self-discipline. No one likes to excercise (or give up ice cream and candy) - including me - but that's what it takes. Keep in mind that you'll not only look better, but feel better too. Also keep in mind that once you get down to your "fighting weight" it will be easy to keep it - doing the right thing will have become a habit!!

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. the secret to weight loss is taking in less calories than you burn , eat very wisley and excerise as much as you can stand , try to stay away from food high in fat . If you are refeering to a weight loss pill or something like that , they do have them and they can work , its not a healthy descision to take weight loss pills unless you make changes within your diet , I would try to steer clear of mircle formulas or lose weight quick pills , they tend to not really work that good and can really do a number on your body, they can make you lose it , but it will be because you feel sick and have diahrea, not good for your body. I would alter your current diet and try walking a little bit to help burn off excess calories ,,,,,,,good luck

How fast? A day: you can only lose water. Sweat it out and try diuretics. A week: burn burn burn, get your metabolism up and keep it high, then at the end lose the water. A month: eat smart and exercise. A year: read Dr. Phil's book.

Atkins! Absoultely no carbs for two weeks and you'll lose as much as 20+ pounds! (Depending upon how overweight you are) But study the diet first. You have to have some "good" carbs after the first two weeks.

if you wanna loose tons of weight really fast, u gotta cut down to one meal a day and drink lots of water when u get hungry to fill you up, but make sure you take your vitamins and try to eat like fruits and veggies when you can or you will get stomach problems.
