I cut my hand with some broken glass two weeks ago. I cleaned it the best I could and pulled one shard of glass out. It's still tender after two weeks even though it's mostly healed over. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a small shard left in there.

Aside from cutting it open, is there a way to tell if a shard of glass remains in a healed wound in the palm of the hand?

Thanks.

nope the only way to tell is by exploring the wound. Physicians typically will do that before they try to close one, but if it wasn't big enough to need attention then you may need to see a doctor now. Remember signs of infection would be redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, oozing of pus or blood, warmt to touch. If you see any of these see a doctor ASAP, hand infections can cost the whole hand if treated inappropriately, good luck
