my brother in-law have been arguing with me. telling me not to use black pepper when i cook because it's bad for the heart. can somebody help me on this? i might sound silly but it's really annoying me because i love to put black pepper on the recipes i cook. i'd really appreciate if you'd give me answers based on facts. thanks

I've never heard of it. All famous chef's use lots of ground black pepper.

I have heard that ground pepper that has been stored for a long time is bad for a man's prostate. The oils go rancid and affect the prostate. Men should only use freshly ground pepper.

I've never heard of black pepper being bad for you. I see no reason why it should be. I do know that it's good for boosting your metabolism. Your in-law probably just can't handle spicy food. ;)

It's been said that is doesn't digest well. Red pepper (cayenne) is a good healthy substitute.

where is your mother in law from the ice age, there is nothing at all wrong with pepper , use as much as u want ,there is no fat, calories in pepper..... so tell her she is WRONG

that would be salt that bad for the heart.
But too much of anything is not good.
