it's not hard , when done right it's very good. I usually eat erie perch, which is a similar tasting white fish which we mostly deep fry, or even bake with cajun powder and butter lots of butter but this is my talapia recipe
Broiled Tilapia Parmesan
Flavorful recipe for this farm raised fish that is easy and done in
minutes! The fish is broiled with a creamy cheese coating for an
impressive flavor and texture.
Servings: 8
Ingredients:
2 pounds tilapia fillets
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon celery salt
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven's broiler, and grease a broiling pan, or line with
aluminum foil.
2. In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, butter,
mayonnaise, and lemon juice. Season with dried basil, pepper, onion powder, and
celery salt. Mix well and set aside.
3. Arrange fillets in a single layer on the prepared pan. Broil a few
inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the fillets over, and
broil for a couple more minutes. Remove the fillets from the oven, and
cover them with the Parmesan cheese mixture on the top side. Broil for 2
more minutes, or until the topping is browned, and fish flakes easily
with a fork. Be careful not to over cook the fish.

FOR THE BEST TILAPIA FILLETS EVER!!!!!! i cook them just like I cook shrimp scampi (sometimes I even throw some shrimp in while I'm cooking it) I start with some butter in a frying pan, not too much, not quite enough to go over the fillets, while the butter is melting i smash 1 or 2 cloves of garlic (depending on the size of the clove) and add this to the butter. i let that cook for a minute or two on medium low heat to get the garkic throughout the butter. while the fillets are waiting to go in I squeeze a fresh lemon on 'em and salt and pepper em (and any other spice I feel like) . then i add them to the butter, ya gotta move 'em alot because they tend to stick. when it's time to flip I usualy cut them wit the spatula long ways so they don't just break apart when I try to flip 'em. make sure both sides are fully cooked, take 'em out, another squirt of lemon juice and voila!!!!!! the worlds greatest tilapia scampi!!!!!!

Hi Unknown, I would cook them in a parcel of greaseproof paper ( and not foil if at all possible) grease your parcel add your cleaned fish and a couple of pieces of butter a grinding of black pepper and some soft herbs like parsley dill and some sliced fennel or fennel tops (fronds) if possible. If you are using fennel lay the fish on a bed of this. Squeeze over some lemon juice and grate a little lemon zest over the fish - not too much 1/2 - 1 teaspoon should do.Wrap the fish loosely in the parcel so that the steam can circulate. and bake in a medium hot oven for 12 - 15 minutes depending on the size of the fillets. Serve the fish on a hot plate still in the parcel so that when opened you get the full aroma from the parcel. Simple boiled potatoes and either asparagus if liked or broccoli to accompany. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab

I can't cook very much, but Salmon and Tilapia are easy. In the case of Tilapia, I coat it in a thin layer of flour, add salt and pepper to taste, then bake it on a pie tin (sprayed with Pam or something) for about 15 minutes at 375 or so. With Salmon, just don't add the flour.
Flour, Salt, Pepper, Pam. bake.

Tilapia does not have a enough sustance to grill. I prefer to poach it in a white wine, butter, and lemon base.
If you are cooking 2-4 normal size filets of tilapia, melt 2 TBSP butter in a pan on medium high. After the butter melts and begins to foam add your fish and turn down heat to just below medium.
Cut one fresh lemon into eighths. After adding the fish, immediately squeeze 2/8 lemon juice onto the fish. Add the leftover rind to pan. Cook fish two to three minutes.
Carefully turnover filets. Remove lemon rind from pan. Squeeze an additional 2/8 of lemon over fish. Add 1/4 white wine pan. I prefer lighter sweeter wine like Reisling, Pinot Grigio - rather than Chardonnay which is too buttery or oaky.
Cook fish for 1-3 minutes more. Remove fish from pan onto a platter. Drizzle the wine sauce over fish. Remove cooked rind. Garnish with remaining fresh lemon pieces.

Batter them. I don't know how many fillets you have but try this for four average fillets.
In one bowl whip two eggs with a fork.
in another bowl mix
1 1/2 cup flower
3 teaspoons Salt
1 teaspoon garlic
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
mix this thoroughly and spread onto a large plate
get a sturdy frying pan and put about 3/4 inch oil (I prefer pure corn oil) and heat until a drop of your whipped floats within 3 seconds
Now for the cooking
dip a fillet in the egg so that it is lightly covered with egg then lat it flat on the flour mixture and kind of shake a little then flip it over and repeat. now gently place it into your oil on one side for about 2 minutes and flip over it should be golden brown on top now, let the second side cook for about 1 minute. Place on a plate with paper towels to absorb excess oil and serve with side dish. Fries or rice are great.

I recently discovered Tilapia while dieting...some of the best fish I've ever eaten...definitely the easiest I've ever prepared.
Preheat ove to 425 degrees - Spray baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Place fillets in dish and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning. Bake for approximately 9-12 minutes until fish is opaque and easily flakes at the thicket part. Yum, yum!!!!!
