At the beginning or end of a book you'll find the references (name of books) , utilised to get the informations contained in it. Bibliography, is how it's spelled.

When you write an essay, or when someone else writes a paper (or book), the bibliography is the list of references (other books, websites, films, people, etc.) used to gather information for the text. It is normally found at the end of the text and follows a specific format, depending upon the discipline used, e.g., MLA.

Merlin said well...but I would add that if you are writing your own piece of work.....for example a thesis or dissertation, and you quote from other writers, then you have to say in your bibliography....(as in Bible)....the chapter and verse of where you are quoting from....like which book, which edition, which publisher, the page, the paragraph.......the bloody line.....etc etc.....and all this needs the title of the novel or book you are quoting from IN CAPS AND UNDERLINED.

Not forgetting the footnotes everytime you borrow an idea. This has to be annotated by chapter. And set out very concisely in the bib at the end.

Jeez................it was easier to make it up as you went along.......lol.

PS It's me who has given everybody else the thumbs up.

Good answers.

a bibliography is simply a list of all materials you cited as sources in your paper or whatever. usually it comes after the conclusion of the paper/book. the place where readers can research all your footnotes and such and verify authenticity and accuracy of your report.
