I know that eating right and exercise are a sure fire way to lose weight, but what if you don't have the time for the exercise part.
I am eating right but I have a full time job plus kids and a husband as well as extra activities for the kids. I am always on the go.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

I feel your pain ... I have a full time husband, a full time pair of kids and a full time job!!!

Unfortunately, none of these is an excuse to not exercise.

You're obviously on the right track if you are eating right ... but are you eating clean???

Do you eat a lot of processed foods ... boxed dishes ... etc. Stick to the good old fashion way of cooking ... fresh fruits, fresh veggies and fresh proteins.

As for exercise, you could do what I do ... wake up at 4:15am 6 days a week and go to the gym then.

The choice you have is to get the extra sleep or be over weight ... it's a choice only you can make ... but it is a choice. There is always time to exercise ... no matter how many excuses we make. We just need to make ourselves a priority and choose to do it.

You can do it ... trust me ... if I can ... you can!!! In fact ... I know you can. And once you start doing it, and start seeing the results, you'll make it a way of life.

Best of luck ... do not trust anyone who tells you there is a "sure fire, fast & easy" way to loose weight. If it existed, I would have tried it years ago!!!

I lost 50 lb over 3 yrs just by cutting out all the junk I was eating! I didn't do any exercise I just ate less so that's why it took 3 yrs to lose 50 lb, so that's definately not fast but if you're not going to make the time for exercise don't bother with all those crazy "get slim quick" diets cause you'll gain everything back (and then some) as soon as you go back to your old habits

Now that I'm thin I've been lifting weights and climbing stairs. Mind you, I don't do a lot but it has made a noticable difference. I climb 14 flights of stairs 3-5 times a week (at work during my break) and lift weights only 1-3 times a week (whenever I can get it in cause I have a 2-yr-old to chase around so I understand your dilema)

Do little things like park as far away as you can from the store, take the stairs instead of the elevator, jump rope with your kids, go on a walk or bike ride together, it doesn't have to be boring, enjoy with your family!

even if you only spend 5 minutes each day doing a couple weight-lifting exercises you will get results

this is what I do cause I want to be more muscular all around:

squats and lunges for butt, leg lifts for outer thighs, scissors for inner thighs

bench press for chest and will also work your shoulders and triceps

I also do arm raises with small (5-lb) dumbbells for my shoulders

bicep curls for (duh) biceps

dumbbell fly for upper back

crunches for abs (duh)

back extensions for lower back

I've been climbing stairs for ~9 months now and have noticed my behind is firmer and starting to fill out : )

I just recently started with the weight-lifting and I only do one set of 21 reps for each exercise whatever day(s) I lift but that little bit has already made a noticable difference (I can do all of the above in ~30 min)

good luck! just find something you like to do and that will help you stick with your plan : )

it won't be fast but after a few months as long as you try to do something a few times a week you will see results

As you say, "eating and exercise" is your best bet. Portioning your food intake is also a good way. I hate to tell people, but counting calories is not a bad thing. I've also heard that eating healthy snacks (no more than 100-115 calories e.g. apple, jello, low fat yogurt) through out the day (every 2-3 hours) will help your metabolism speed up. People tend to starve them selves and that causes their metabolism to slow down. The body is led to think that it wont consume any food for a while, so it will keep previous food consumption longer. Eating snacks will manipulate the body that its getting food ofter, therefore leading it to believe that more food is coming, make way.

Go low carb. Not "no carb"mind you but "low"
Cut out white flour, sugar, rice& pasta totally out of ur meals.Absolutely no sugar.

Eat lots of green salad. And veggies. No potatoes at all.
Lots of fruit, but avoid mangoes, bananas.
Eat lots of berries.
Eat whole grains/not refined.
Have protein but dont overdo it. Have small portions. Have fish more than beef, veal or mutton. Chicken & other white meat is fine.
Have low fat milk & cheese, again in small amounts.
Nuts & seeds are healthy in small amounts specially almonds & walnuts.
Lastly be sure to have lots of water, at least 8-10 250ml glasses a day.
Try including exercise in ur daily routine. Use stairs intead of lifts & escalators, every small effort counts.
Laugh a lot, helps u lose weight, if u laugh for 15 min everyday for a yr, u will lose 3 kg a year! No laughing matter:)
Love & peace.

Be sure to drink plenty of water (Especially if your on the go). Try and incorporate little workouts into your day. i.e. Calf raises while brushing your teeth, squats while brushing your hair. Parking a little further away from where you need to go, etc. I know it's hard to find time to exercise, but it is definitely key in losing weight. Be sure to also eat plenty of healthy foods. I wouldn't recommend any of those diet fads. They DON'T WORK !! Good luck !!

Not very many people know this secret diet. When you shop, shop the outside of the grocery store. All the perishable items are on the outside aisles. Yougurt, cheese, milk, eggs, fish, meat, bread, fruits and veggies. You will not fill up as fast but you will be eating good wholesome foods. Stay away from processed foods, packaged dinners, deserts and fast foods. Be fresh food friendly not a fast food fatty.
Look at the inside aisles of the grocery store and stay away from the in-zone.

Exercise is very important- something that you have to make time for- try walking on your lunch break or waking up a 1/2 hour early and exercising along with one of those exercise shows- NO exercise can lead to more serious problems than simply being overweight.
