It sounds like you have some sort of satelite setup. It just means the signal is either scrambled (because you haven't paid for it) or the signal is just too weak due to a misalligned receiver dish.

Cable tv plus is disconnected or the antenna is disconnected. It's not getting a signal. Check to see if all of the wires are connected in the back. Remember that you may have wires leading to and from VCRs or other devices. You need to trace the entire route. Also check the condition of the wires to make sure that they are not damaged.

if you have direct tv or something of the sort, that means that your tv is on the wrong channel. try pressing the tv button on the remote and changing the channel to "3" or "4".

examine your grounding source of your DVD participant and the cables your hooking them up with. make valuable all connections are all the way plugged in. most of the time, a hum is from a shaky connection or a grounding subject.
