Apologetics comes from the Greek word for defense. Christians who use apologetics are called apologists. If your recommended in apologetics I cannot highly enough recommend an organization called Stand To Reason. go to www.str.org you will find virtually every resource you could possibly use.

Hello, I am Father John, a Catholic priest. I know you want Agnostics to answer your question, but it was the last part of your statement that I want to address. Apologists are ones that argue for Christianity, but not by criticizing other beliefs. That is called Polemics.
Apologetics is the arguing of the faith with non-believers through a common ground. So yes, logic does help and also good philosophy, theology, anthropology, good ethics, and metaphysics as well. But above these is an intimate knowledge of the Scriptures and your life of faith. This living of your faith with joy and integrity is the best apologetics anyone can offer to non-believers. As St. Francis of Assisi was credited to say, "Tell the people of God and WHEN NECESSARY use words."
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden
Fr. john

Well, for Jim Darwin's answer, that arguement, the article on the disciples is the one I wrote and is on my website listed below. It is the second article on there.
Heaven's Gate/Halle's Bop: Applewhite convinced 39 followers to commit suicide so that their souls could take a ride on a spaceship that they believed was hiding behind the comet.
Jim Jones:
The Jonestown cult. In 1978, almost a thousand people, died from murder/suicide mass ordered by Jones also died. This was done solely because of people defecting out of the cult.
The difference in the disciples and any other "martyr" is, you had twelve men, die horrible deaths and all they ever had to do is deny that Jesus was God. That simple. Nowhere else in history will you find this. You find examples of martyrs and people willingly dying, but not in these respects, not given the easy choice of just making a denial. Like it or not, the proof IS still there.

I'm not Agnostic but I have used a few that many don't bother answering...they funny thing is that some of them are Christian. I argue both sides occasionaly. And Apologetics are people who appologize for their faith or members. Like when they say "I am sorry that this person treated you this way BUT..."

Edit: Jim Darwin pointed out that my definition of "apologetics" was incorrect. So I apologise for that...it is someone who defends their beliefs.

I'm not sure what the Christians that use this approach are actually called. But the study of logical proof for the existence of God is called Apologetics. So I guess that makes them Apologeticist?

im agnostic
yes they have "apologetics" which is defense of the faith
the best argument i heard was that the apostles after jesus died went into hiding, then they apparently saw him resurrectted, then were martyred that he was god,
so in other words, the fact that they went into hiding and then were willing to be killed for him being god was evidence that he "came back"
the thing that makes this "negated" in my view is all the other martyers for all the other faiths,
heavens gate,
halle bop comment,
jim jones
people die for their causes,
their god(s),
and that counter argument came from a christian
i think the only way to have authentic faith is if god talks, which she hasnt to me

1 John. But real world you don't see it. If you did we'd all want to join up. 99.99% of the time I don't see Christianity change anyone for the better or worse.

I am a christian and my friend is agnostic, I told her I would pray for her and she cried, because there was doubt in her own religion. She knows the possibility. Keep the faith and pray for your friend. God Bless and take care.

Pascal's Wager.
You can look it up on wikipedia. It's probably better to believe than not, and the upside is good enough that you should believe.
