I have a family railcard and save a third on all rail travel. You have to have at least one under 16 travelling with you. It costs £20 for a year. For the info you need go to:

Yes, this site has links to many of the rail cards and student discount cards. You want to purchase your card before you go since they will not be activated until you do so, and they are far cheaper while you are at home than when you get there.
