The Christian calendar is a Solar calendar of nominally 365 days per year. It starts with the birth of Christ (actually 2 years after). The current year is 2006 Anno Domini or A.D.

The Islamic calendar is Lunar of 354 days per year. It starts from Hijra - about 622 Gregorian Calendar. The current year is 0.97 * 2006 - 622 = 1324 Anno Hegirae (A.H.) or Hijra (H).

Because the Islamic Calendar is Lunar its months and holidays move 11 days per year relative to the Christian Calendar.

The Christian Calendar or Gregorian Calendar has been adopted by nations and peoples not Christian and is the standard calendar for international business. In these cases, the designation is C.E. or Common Era.
