I suggest you do something fun to forget about it. Fun and laughter is always the cure for pain. (Please continue reading)

Yes, I know very well what you are talking about... cause I have braces myself. I don't think medication will do anything. First time I hade my wires and rubber bands it hurt so bad, I cried all night!!!! Every oppoinment you go to, they just make things tighter and it hurts for a few days; it takes time to get used to the ujustment.
So first period, wires and metal. Second time, the make things tighter and the wire is replaced to become thicker. This goes on, until you finally get your rubber bands. Later on, they start to put more wires and plastic in between your wires. Then they start puttin these "coils" (as they're called) on the sides of your teeth. I got my braces in Febuary of this year and now its September, recently I changed the position of my rubberbands. Now it's on the last tooth in my lower jaw to the upper fang.
Hopes this helps, I know its a pain.

whenever i got my braces tightened my orthadontist would give me a thing of oragel to take home with me it works for a bit and also take some tylenol it always worked for me but remember nothing can take away the pain totally because you are moving bone unless you have really good painkillers or try to sleep and you will forget about the pain i know the pain you are going through hope you feel better

I had my braces tightened today too. As soon as I left the building, they started to ache. Dose yourself up on paracetamol and do not play around with your teeth. It will just make it worse.

Maybe try to apply a bit of pressure to the back of your teeth with your tongue and see which tongue position makes your teeth hurt a bit less. Get an early night. The sooner you get to sleep, the sooner the pain will go.

greetings...i sympathize with your problem, and here's some advise that may help. first off tell your dentist your experiencing discomfort and would like a prescription for pain, something other that aspirin. Tylenol with co dine or vicodin. you can also purchase some over the counter ambisol. this you can apply to your gums to releave the pain. another thing that helped me was to rinse with warm salt water, especially after your eat. and finally try switching to a lite bristled tooth brush with some non abrasive tooth paste. good luck

if its not helping for pain..You should go back with a parent and demand a pain medication. Tell them that its not helping and you need something stronger..Maybe they can give you motrin 800 mg

If your dentist did this, he should be able to fix it. I would call him back and explain this to him, and maybe he could loosen them a bit.
