We were supposed to have spotted dick for pud tonight but it didn't finish cooking in time. I just want to know if you can save and reheat it another day. So we can have it either tomorrow or Thursday.

For those who don't know what spotted di ck is - it's a sponge pudding made that also includes suet, currents, raisins, sultanas and sometimes cherry pieces - and is served hot with custard.

Nothing 'gross' or body-related to it. Hee hee.

You can reheat it - microwave is actually a good way seeing the oven uses water molecules as part of the hear process and the pudding is usually quite moist. Other ways can see the fat in the suet sinking through the pudding, making the base of the pudding very greasy and unpleasant to eat.

Spotted Dick In A Can

Because the texture of the pudding changes once it cools, it's better just to cut the cold spotted dick into thick slices, fry these on both sides in a hot pan with a little butter, and serve with golden syrup. That's what we've always done with leftover spotted dick in my family (Eastend tradition).

sure you can reheat, but you may need to slice it thin so the heat will cook all the pud well down into the dick. Be sure to add some gonads as a side dish and maybe a few griznoids for garnish.

Happy chomping.

Yes
Bung it in the fridge. Heat it up on high in the microwave for a couple of minutes, check its hot, if not give it another 2 mins etc. Don't overheat or it'll go chewy round the edges. It wil last a couple of days in the fridge no problem. Don't reheat it again after that though.

As if spotted dick didn't sound nasty enough on its own, you've got to add the words suet pud to it.

As long as you cover it with cling film it should be ok. Careful when you take the film off as the steam escapes and you could burn.
