My question is regarding Yahoo Answers, but can apply to all life. It just seems that religous people always condemn or damn you for having a view other than their own. Why do they need to be so mean? I don't understand why what I do with my life makes them want to hate me. Why do they care what I do? or who I do it with? Why do they need to insult and yell at people that are different? What is it about being religious that makes you so mean to other people? I thought that religions are supposed to preach love, but all I see on here is hate?

I didn't ask this to attack anyone, I really want to understand. And it is not just on Yahoo Answers, just look around the world the muslims hate the Jews and the Christians now for what the Pope said, the Christians hate people that are gay or accept gay people, the Jews hate the Muslims back. The Catholics scream at the protestents and the Mormons think everybody but them is damned. I can't help but think God would be disappointed. The only love thy neighbor that happens is when your neighbor thinks exactly like you. Why is this, shouldn't you love everybody?

I don't think that telling someone that they are evil, or will be damned is telling them the truth. A religous person takes it on faith that their religon is the right one. It is not the truth but their interpretation of a book. Even from the same book, people will get different ideas and they will tell each other they are evil and damned even though for the most part they believe the same thing. It is wierd and does not make sense to me.

We should not be judging each others beliefs. It is not our place to judge. It is only our place to teach others what we know to be truth. It is their option to accept or reject it. It is not our place to "force" them to believe. If they agree, great. If not, then that is their decision. That goes for both sides of the fence.
With all this being said however..... we are all human people with human responses and reactions to situations. All people will lash out if they feel attacked. Whether it be about religion, child rearing, actions, etc. It is a defense mechanism. Not all people here ask questions trying to attack. There are however people from both sides though that do ask questions for the mere purpose of bashing and stirring up trouble.

First of all, stop stereotyping. There are many different kinds of "religious" people. There are religious Buddahists, religious Hindus, religious muslims, religious satanists, religious cultists. Let's assume you are speaking of Christians, there are different kinds of Christians, but one of the most important things about Christianity is that it hasn't got anything to do with religiousity. Jesus didn't care much for the religious people, He called them hypocrites and vipers. We don't judge you if you aren't a Christian. We can judge one another and that is bibical, but we don't judge non believers, and we do not "force" our beliefs on anyone. You can say," tell me more", or you can say," I'm not interested." We don't hold you prisoner, we don't hold a gun to your head, and unlike some I could mention we also don't behead people. Now you say Christians yell at you and are mean because of what you do and who you do it with? How do the "yelling Christians" know what you are doing? Do you go and tell them? Nobody snoops into whatever it is that you are doing. You come to Yahoo answers and accuse all the "religious people" of being mean to you, in fact, you actually whine about it. You don't make any sense at all.

People who always make such general accusations are likely to be under spiritual convictions of what religious people made have said may be true about them so they without a doubt attack back. Ever person has a choice in life to remain true to thy self and don't worry about what others say but if that person complains that others are forcing their views down their throats which is not true then that person is weak and has a low self esteem about themselves for wondering what others think about them daily. Religious people tell the truth and don't try to force anything therefore the words that they speak is sharper than a two-edged sword piercing and cutting every wicked thing in high places. The truth shall make you free. You have a choice. To Listen or not to listen that is ur free God-given will!

All religions teach both constructively, and destructively. ALL People who choose to be hateful make life hard for others, and generally reap what they sow. IF you ARE sure you haven't just 'assumed' your own innocence, and their guilt regarding their reactions to you, why worry about it at all?
Live your life the way you see fit! BUT IF you are asking questions about things that question your own values, don't expect those with values built on firm convictions to play 'color it pretty' for you.
Sounds like you are dealing with your own prejudice towards religion, and if so, you cannot truthfully declare yourself completely not guilty. Better toughen up for this old guilt ridden world if so!
Religion maintains a shallow focus when the problem goes a lot deeper than just a little hateful yelling. What kind of things about yourself are you publicizing?! Don't ask the world to view your private life and expect it to remain private ~ as in YOUR business!

I think you are just judging those who frequent these pages too often cos they have nothing left to do?
If their are any people judging it is because they have already judged, because they are prejudice may it be against a religion, colour, sex, etc.
I personally don't give two tosses about what another person says if they want to try intimidating me, this is the internet and people come here to as here they are free to lose their inhibitions and spread their hate.
People just need to keep that in mind and remember most of these people that show such hateful attitudes are those that may have other problems and usually don't do anything in the real world to follow these actions, if they were killers they would not be here bt out there killing someone, I pity the haters, grow up or rather just mature into adults.

We're required to in some circumstances and I was very let down.
One girl here said she was thinking about mudering someone and asked if God would forgive her.
About 40 to 50% of the people said YES God would forgive her in advance for planning a murder.
Now, it is the job of every good person to STOP or at least intercede in murder, don't you agree?
If a bunch of your friends said there we're going to go blow up a Mosque and teach those Rag Heads a lesson, would you say, cool? Would you say nothing? Would ou stop them? Would you try and make them have some sense?
You do know if Government ever finds out YOU knew in advance and did nothing, you are a criminal and can be imprisoned.
What is the Difference between God and George Bush?
Why do you have to obey George Bush but not God?
Why is it wrong for someone to warn you in advance you better not go up against George Bush, but not God?
It's up to you to decide what to do and you have to live with the consequcnes.
If Government finds out you knew in advance about a bombing plot you are as guilty as they are.
If there IS a GOD and GOD has Rules and ou break them, then ou face God's Punishement.
Saying
I didn't fully undestand
I didn't know
I wasn't aware
I thought it was a joke
does you NO good in God's court or Bush's court.
That's reality.
Ignorance is not an excuse.
That's a keystone in every law.

You don't see those things in all the "religious" people on this site. Just as many of the atheists here are nasty and antagonistic, but not ALL of them are.
Let me answer you this way. There are different types of "religious" people who all get lumped into one group, but they are really very different. Some are lovers of church--they will fight endlessly over church procedures, decorating the church building, the importance of one church program over another, church traditions. They will treat others around them horribly to try to maintain control. They will split a church in two to get their way.
There are others who are lovers of religion. They love rules and enforce them vigorously. They skip over the parts of Scripture that talk about freedom in Christ and instead set up "guidelines" for how everyone should do everything. They have little understanding of Grace and seldom extend it to anyone. They are judgmental and unforgiving. They seem to have missed the part of scripture that says that if you refuse to forgive, the Father will not forgive you.
Fewer are actually lovers of God and seeking to follow in the ways of Jesus. They are not perfect people, but they are striving to learn the heart and mind of God--to love the things that God loves, like obedience, justice, compassion, truth, and so on. They reflect the heart of God in their active love for people--not emotion so much as actions of love and compassion for others.
Few who present themselves as "religious" people are truly lovers of God. That is simply reflected on this site and in the world.

there are so many religions and of course there is going to be alot of opinions but we must believe what the bible says and not what man tells us!jesus told his disciples to (go)and teach the good news ,the truth, matthew 10:5-23.luke 9:2-6 matthew 24:14 we are to tell people about god and his son and how they can live forever if they obey him and follow his word. but we were given free will and we can choose what we want to believe. but there is only one true god 1 cor.8:4,( ephians 4:5 ) so remember satan promotes hatred!

All I can say is that Jesus loves you. Also, when someone tells you the truth, and you are not ready to accept it, people tend to become uncomfortable. That is actually God convicting you (allowing you to feel guilty) of the wrong in your life. I agree that when Christians witness to others it should be done in love, but even the lovingest Christian cannot water down the word of God. I hope you will recieve this without becoming offended, and try Jesus for yourself. God bless.....

I don't believe you see hate, I believe you see difference and translate it as hatred.
I am a Christian, and I have one half of my family who are Muslim.
Now I do not hate Muslims as people, but I cannot agree with their religion, as of course they deny that Christ is Lord, and also, almost every piece of violence coming out n the news today is to do with Muslims, so I think people just get a little over zealous.
Muslims walk the streets and say they hate Britain, and burn things and bomb things....it is incredibly easy to become emotionally drained, and to relay this in sometimes not so appropriate a manner.
