Yes most people curse period, we are human with frailties, we are not Christ. If we are god Christians we try to emulate him, but we will always fail, that is why he died for our sins. All we can do is try our best. As for reading the bible, I think as many Catholics read the bible as other denominations of Christianity.

Being Catholic myself, I cannot claim to have noticed that Catholic men curse. I can vouch for us reading the Bible, though:)
But seriously, just because you see hypocripsy in our Church, this is not a good enough reason alone to part with Catholicism. After all, no matter where you go--even if you become an aethiest, you will find people are prone to all sorts of different faults. In our church, we are striving to stay on the path to God. Some people you meet will be behind you...and others may be in front....but the point is that we're all still walking on that path.
As for Sola Scripture (the belief in the Bible's authority alone), did you know it is not biblical? In fact, St. Paul even says that the Church is the "pillar and foundation of the truth," (1 Tim 3:15) --that's not God's word written down. And if there are different churches, can there be different truths? No, of course not! Christ Himself is Truth (John 14:6) and we know He does not change--God is immutable.
Also, did you know that the readings in the New Testament were compilied by the Catholic Church? If you trust them to put determine which books were divinely inspired and which were not, why won't you trust the Church to lead you to Truth today?
Thanks for reading and God Bless!

I am a Catholic man who was raised in a strict Catholic household. Yes, I do admit to uttering the occasional curse word from time to time now, but I'm trying to imagine ever having done so in front of my mother. I would've been slapped down. So, like many men, I do curse, but I wasn't raised to do so. It's more a bad habit, in which I've learned to talk like my peers more than anything else. And yes, by the way, many Catholics do read the Bible.

Just chuckling at your question, because the most blatantly foul-mouthed person I've ever met in my entire life is a Baptist. It's not only Catholics who use the naughty words, you know. And if you're so delicate that a bit of cursing offends you, then you're probably pretty hopelessly sheltered to begin with. True, cursing isn't the most charming of mankind's habits, but it's definitely not reserved exclusively for Catholics, either.

I think it is because they have a different view point on their relationship with God. I completed a medical clinical internship in Ohio about 20 years ago. I was working with a facility that worked directly with a Catholic school and health program. The nun who worked directly with me cursed like a sailor and just simply saw no problem with it.
The protestant mindset seems to center more on aligning ones heart with God. When we fail Him it tends to be a more personal failure that results in a desire to rededicate oneself and attempt to draw closer to God's design for us.
I think the Catholic mindset revolves more around the confession of sin to the priest who can then absolve one of sin. I think possible that leads an individual to be less motivated to change their conduct. Rather than changing what they do, they just confess to the priest who obsolves the sin and then their good to go until the next confession.
Really don' t know for sure. I'm just thinkin outloud.

If you come from a background of Catholic worship, then you already know that you were never told to read your own bible if you even had one.
My husbands family is Catholic and they own one large bible and it gathers dust on a shelf.
They are encouraged to read misselettes, much as the Jehovah witnessess do. This keeps people from reading the word of God for themselves and is harmful. The scriptures were given to us all, for all of us to read and understand.
If God intended for only one to have the scriptures, there would only be one copy and wouldnt be available to us.
THis explains why many Catholics do not seem to be Christians, as they do not read the bible for themselves. My husband did finally read it for himself and after much reading and questioning had to leave the Catholic church.
My prayer is that more and more Catholics would read their own bible. For instance, find the scripture in Exodus where God gives the ten commandments. Then compare these commandments with the ones that the Catholic church posts in their misselettes or even in the back of the Catholic bible itself. You will find that they have eliminated the command not to bow down to graven images of any sort. They did leave that command in the original text of exodus, but left it out on their easy find reference sections.

Do you have any research to back up your claim? Because I think that you are either mistaken or a liar. I'm not sure which.
I'm curious about only trusting in the Bible? What do you think of the parts where it says it is OK to beat your slaves as long as they can get up in a couple of days?

I say if you only knew Catholics that swore alot then you did not know true practicing Catholics who take their religion seriously, but even if you did why are you surprised that a Church is full of sinners? You might as well join them again because your pride is not being overlooked even now.
