Yes. It's a lie.

Rapture... the end of the world...

According to this doctrine, when Christ returns, all of the elect who have died will be raised and transformed into a glorious state, along with the living elect, and then be caught up to be with Christ. The key text referring to the rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, which states, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord."

Virtually all Christians hold that the Second Coming will be preceded by a time of great trouble and persecution of God’s people (2 Thess. 2:1–4). This period is often called the tribulation. Until the nineteenth century, all Christians agreed that the rapture—though it was not called that at the time—would occur immediately before the Second Coming, at the close of the period of persecution. This position is today called the "post-tribulational" view because it says the rapture will come after the tribulation.

MY opinion:

People have been proclaiming that they are living through the "end times" for waaaaay too long. There's always some unhygienic street-corner evangelist crackpot sputtering about how the world is going to end and that all the heathens better get the Lord harassed into their unsaved souls.

It STILL hasn't happened. The sky isn't falling. The oceans aren't boiling. Pigs are most definitely NOT sprouting wings and making like the birdies. They've been barking about it for years and years and years and they'll STILL be barking for years to come.

It's a scare tactic, a convenient freak- the- everliving- crap- out- of- folks magic wand that can be waved about in dramatic fashion any time the religious collective feels the soul harvest is running dry.

Trust me... go about your life. Ok, I'm sure you will anyhow considering there's really no alternative option (besides suicide, and I've heard God frowns upon that), but just make sure to keep in mind: STAY CALM. DON'T PANIC. REMEMBER YOUR TOWEL.

The Parousia is a definite promise the early church recognized. There is no getting away from that if you are using the Christian scriptures.

Whether you believe it will happen, or whether it will happen in your lifetime, or whether it is part of current-contemporary dogma, that is an entirely separate issue.

Whether it is reserved for between Revelation 3 & 4 or 18 or 19 or where ever is fine to discuss but lie is an unnecessarily strong word. As for the wings, not all that flew in the Bible had wings--where does it say Jesus had wings, but a crowd saw him go up in the air. Take it down a notch. In God's good time He will make all that He promised happen when and how He intends--whether you or I guess it right or not.

1 Thessalonians 4 does not only talk about where the dead are. You obviously need to go read it again. 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17 says..."For the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first, THEN WE WHICH ARE ALIVE, and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord." This, my friend, is the rapture. You need to go back and study this a little more.

...the question or debate, is the timing or time... the bible says "the dead in Christ will rise first, then those believers who are alive and remain, shall rise up also, and all in Jesus will meet the Lord in the air" - as He is returning... 1 thess 4 (paraphrased:)
---- "in a moment in the twinkling of the eye.. at the _last_ trump(et)" 1 cor 15:52 - that would be the 7th trump, or after the 7th trump..
--- Jesus said he would resurrect the dead believers "on the last day" - 1 thess4 says, "we which are alive and remain will not precede those in the grave".. ["The rest of the dead are resurrected 1000 years later"] - Zechariah 14:4, says Jesus's feet touch down on the Mt of Olives (just as He left - Acts 1:19?20? "just as you saw Him leave, so shall He return".
--- 2? thess 7:5 "He comes with His angels and fire" (mt 24:48-51?or28-31?)- "immediately after the tribulation of those days.. he will send out his angels to gather his elect from every direction.."
--- "he comes with his angels and fire" - a sort of lifting away as fire conflagates? [I believe "judgement" and retribution, is actually results.. not His fire.. man's fire..
---
"ye shall have _tribulation_ ten days" rev 2:10

The concept of the Rapture is not in the Bible

The basic tenents are there, but not under the term Rapture. Rapture was coined by a 15 year old girl named Margeret McDonaland in the 1800s.

If you want to believe in a 15 year old girl, so be it!

Some people beleive in Dear Abby!

No the rapture isn't a lie and for the life of me I can't figure why people get so angry about it. In the verses you don't seem to want to listen to, it tells us that we will be taken and meet the Lord in the air. This is very different than the second coming of Christ, when Jesus descends to the earth and puts His foot on the Mount of Olives.

Why the hostility?

There isn't going to be a secrete rapture where people disappear leaving others behind. And the Christians thinking they will escape the tribulation are just fooling themselves. However when He is revealed from heaven the eagles will be gathered with Him and the unbelievers left on earth will be in a flaming fire of vengeance.

I dont' care if you believe in it or not. You will one day see it for your self with your very own eyes. but you will not be among those who get raptured. Revelation 4:1 is Jesus rapturing His Chruch/bride into heaven with Him and showing them all what comes next.

Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

No the rapture is not a lie, and I hope you don't find out it's the truth too late by getting left behind.
