Get the word out.
You can post on Craig's list, My Space, etc.
In addition, many music stores maintain lists of local musicians who are looking for gigs. Word of mouth is the best advertisement, it is said.
Another option would be to frequent any night clubs that have regularly scheduled "jam" nights. These are most common where there are communities with access to a "Blues Society", which is an organized membership for the preservation of the musical art form of the blues. Even where I live, high in the mountains of northern California in Mt. Shasta, a rural community, there is the Siskiyou Blues Society, Redding has the Shasta Blues Society, Chico has the Midnight Blues Society and there is the Bay Area Blues Society, etc. Google it and find one nearby to go jam. All are welcome, regardless of skill level. You will have to "sign up" upon arrival and, time permitting, you will be able to play in the order which your name appears on the list. Most have a "house" kit to play, but you can bring your own foot pedal(s) and your snare. Check with your local society to make sure how they operate.
Speaking of skill level, if you are not in practice now, get that way, so that the doors will open for you when you come a'knockin'. If you would like to correspond, you can contact me through this site.
Good luck and good thumpin'!
