It has been proven that the average cat sleeps 18 hours a day. There are many cats though that will sleep more or less. It really all depends on the type of cat you have.

I think mine cats sleep about 20 hours a day. They get up and play for a while, eat, sit in the window, and then go back to sleep. Unless they are outside on their leashes. Then they are up most of the day and will sleep for probably a day after they come inside. Sometimes, when I leave for work in the morning, one of them will be sleeping on my bed, and when I get home that night, she will still be there.

There is no a normal answer for this question. Some will sleep as few as 8 and others will sleep as much as 20 hrs. More will depend on the breed and age.

Male Cats about 18 hours; female cats about 10 hours. Thats because the female cat is the hunter in the cat kingdom and she brings dinner back to the relaxing male, who always eats first!

The average housecat can sleep up to 20 hrs a day. Mine sleep an average of 15 since they are still active kittens.

My mom read in a recent magazine article that cats can get up to 16-18 hours of sleep a day. (Why mine is always yawning when I get home lol) =)

Mine is really lazy, it would be easier to figure out how much she is awake. She's awake when we're asleep looking for pieces of plastic to crinkle up. She's also awake when I'm trying to cook being a spy for the dogs. Then she's up for two hours in the evening getting the dogs worked up. Other than that, she naps. I'd say she's awake 12 and sleeps 12.
