actually i'm just translating for my own benefit, so i can read chinese web pages. 100% accuracy isn't necessary

That depends on who are reading it. Mainland China uses simplified. The rest uses traditional.

Don't use babelfish. 95% of the time, Chinese people will not be able to figure out what's written.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: do not use on-line translators, except maybe for one or two words. They do not understand tone, meaning, idioms, verb tenses, homonyms, etc... You'll end up with something that no native speaker can understand.

If you are using babelfish. select any. It'll be not much difference. It is not accurate.
But if you insist on this, China uses the simplified version and Taiwan uses the traditional one.

I would not recommend the use of on line translators.
