DANCE! Not alot of sappy love songs or anything, but some good dance tunes for all ages. I think Karaoke is redneck and for drunks. If you need funny entertainment hire a comedian.

Karaoke is always fun and a good way to get people to liven up. For the kids here's an idea, get a really big poster board of some kind and bring some finger paints, cheap, and have them do something on it for you guys, tell them it's your way of remembering who was there at the reception. Adults could do it too. Course make sure you got soap and or handy wipes ready lol. And tell people not to wear fancy clothes to the reception fancy to the wedding yeah but they could change after wards. It makes it more fun and relaxing if you're not all dressed up. You don't have to go over board with the food either, or the cake. Have a nice cake a small one for the two of you to share and then just get something plain for everyone else to eat. Afterall the people are just going to eat it right? They don't care. Everything involved in wedding is for the couple. You will have a nice cake for your pictures and won't have to spend a fortune. Maybe have people in your family come prepared to tell a funny story about you and your partner. Something that will get everyone laughing.
here is a good site to check out for some ideas too.

My cousin did something really fun - they pretended that the lights went out and then they got up on the tables with light stick necklaces and starting dancing. The servers started passing out light stick necklaces to all of the guests and everyone started dancing - it was a huge hit for the adults - even more then it was for the kids.

In advance, get photos of/from as many of the people who will be at the reception, and create a video photo montage (a DVD slideshow) to project on a big screen at the wedding. Get a professional company to make it and put it to music, and you'll find that people will laugh and clap or ooo and ahhh when various photos come up -- especially if they are slightly embarrassing pics of other guests!

I additionally went to a minimum of one the place all the single female stood in a circle, the bride grew to become into blindfolded spun around and the place she stopped and pointed have been given the bouquet to boot as a basket finished of spa goodies. you ought to accomplish a little exciting issues if there is going to be kiddos there like a pinata. you ought to do a sea coast subject and set up a volleyball internet and perhaps some horseshoes. i think of no count what in case you keep it exciting, user-friendly and much less formal anybody is going to have an incredible time. and that i agree after paying for my boys paintball weapons for Christmas and finding ruined outfits thats no longer one among those stable thought LOL

how about a hillbilly shotgun wedding reception? everyone could dress in overalls, etc. Serve simple country food and use haybales for seating around the dance floor. Everyone I know hates to dress up for a wedding. Make it simple

We're having ours on a boat. It sounds pricey, but its' a sure-fire way to keep the guest list small, so its' actually way cheaper and a lot of fun.

karaoke sounds fun but make sure the people in the crowd will actually participate...you can probably do a dance competition with random songs with people from your court!
