Suicide isn't the best answer. I am not a bible-thumping prophet or some know it all, I speak from experience. I've been where you are and come very, VERY close to being dead. However, no matter what you believe, whether you die and go to Heaven or just die and get eaten by worms, you only get one chance on this planet. Why not try everything you have ever thought of? If you're gonna die anyway, it's inevitable, why not try everything? Bungee jump, eat chocolate-covered grass hoppers, etc. Do anything (that isn't life-threatening) and just see if it brings you any happiness. Why not? You will die, you know that, so why not at least try something to see if it makes a difference? Chuck everything and move to Mexico. Live on the beach and sell sea-shells to tourist. Anything, just try. It might not help, but wouldn't you rather give it a try then just ending it? I know you know that their are hot lines and websites to help you. It's your choice to at least try. Instead of focusing on things like stem cells, whether or not God exists, etc, just live. Experience everything. Try new things. When you get to a point that you feel you've tried everything and done everything you can think of to not be depressed, only then would I even consider giving up. And if "creatures" of the same species aren't crowding around you, then maybe you need to look at a different group of these creatures.

Suicide is not the best answer, sometimes it may seem like you are living in a horrible place, a world where no one cares about you and where there is no hope. But he truth is there is hope, I hope you believe in god because if not that could be your problem, in the bible suicide is an unforgivable sin, the devil can put a blind fold over your eyes to make you look at every thing the wrong way. He (the devil) wants you to take your own life, and you are falling right into his plan! Open your eyes can't you see! I think you need to pray ask the lord for forgiveness of all the bad you have done and try to turn your life around. ITS NOT TOO LATE...try reading the bible there are many stories of people who where down and in trouble but God turned their lives around and gave them a second chance. NO SUICIDE IS NOT THE ANSWER.

Stop blaming "Bible thumping mongoloids" for your problems, which are yours alone.
If you are alone and your life "sucks", as you say, consider that it might be due your own personal lack of social skills and other proper coping mechanisms.
Having attended the funerals of several suicide victims and watching the absolute agony that their families and friends go through, I can list suicide as being among the most heinously selfish acts capable of being perpetrated by a human being. I know a young man who killed himself back in the 1970s, and his family is still grieving. I know somebody who committed suicide a couple of years ago at Christmas, and you should see the remaining family members and the living hell they go through on the anniversary of this event.
As for blaming religion for impeding scientific progress, that's weak. I know too many scientists who are people of faith. You could make such an argument for the medieval church, perhaps, and yes, there are some people who are backward in their opposition to science, but they are in the minority. And that's not your problem, anyway. Don't go around blaming widely generalized social issues as a reason for pulling your own plug.
Do seek professional help.
Don't blame others for your problems.
And please, regardless of what you're saying here, do understand that there are people whose lives would be profoundly affected if you were to kill yourself. Don't do it. You're needed here on Earth. And we'll all be dying soon enough as it is, so why rush it? You'll get your wish. Even living out the normal human lifespan, you'll be worm food before you know it. Cheer up.

Tenuous connection between suicide and stem cells...
I think suicide is your own business. You own your body and it really is under your power. But nothing hurts other people more than suicide. It leaves an awful and disgusting ripple in the people around the deceased. Two edged sword "I mean I'm going to die anyway..." Might as well wait and not be an ******. There may be circumstances that people would understand, though. Many "heroes" have become so by "committing suicide" for a REASON, like saving others, or fighting injustice. Jesus committed suicide.

Life is ups and downs. You must be young so you are just begining to realize you are alive and what life is about so give yourself a few more years, it is tought for everyone when we are young, all of us has felt life is difficult and stink but it is nice to look back and say good thing I did not kill myself because that was an immature perspective on life, look at all the things I have learned look who I am now. Just keep asking questions, try to find answers, they are there but they are hidden, look at life as a search for answers and you will find more and more every day and your life will become more and more rich. Look at yourself when you were little, it was a great deal to you that your mom left you in kindergarden, it was very hard for you but now you dont mind it anymore because you have grown out of that stage. Be a seeker and life will become interesting, keep asking questions, dont listen to these fanatic christians with dum answers, there are some smart answers out there. Internet is a good way, ask people around you about all sorts of things, and try to find something you learn new in each person; learn from each interaction. Ask God to help you find a meaning to your life. Nobody will know you are asking His help.

Total athiest here.
I briefly considered it once. Once. And very briefly. I quickly came to the conclusion that suicide is just taking what might seem like a no-win situation and making it a definite no-win situation.
Rage against the dying of the light! If your life sucks, do something different. There's lots of things you can change besides whether your heart is beating.
Seriously, unless you have some fatal disease that's killing you slowly AND causing unmanageable pain in the meantime, your life doesn't suck enough to warrant opting out early.

Do you have a crappy family? That seems to be the major reason why people are depressed. Perhaps you don't have a decent mom or dad (if at all). The reason people enjoy life is because they are willing to fight for the things they love--other people, sex, money, rock & roll, good food, good literature, good movies, video games, you name it. Chances are you're stuck in a bad position and don't have anyone who cares for you. I'll tell you what, the easiest way to get someone to care for you is to care for them. You're going to have to go out there and chase what you want from life--no one's going to take care of you unless you return the favor.
How old are you? If you're young, wait until you're free of your parents' control before killing yourself. Independence opens up a whole new world, and I suggest you try it out. If you're not that young, then perhaps you need to start life over again somewhere else.
Do what you want in life. Otherwise you will have no reason to live.

Why do you need to be accepted?can you not exist as an individual?if you cannot, go right ahead, like a sheep, and take your own life.meaningless anyway.were you born to serve others?were you born to exist for them?try making it all about you.it may sound a little bit egocentric, but you are who you are, and nothing and no one can change that, except you.that means you have control over yourself, and over your life.make yourself responsable for what you do, for how you act, for the decisions you make.by your question...you sound unhappy with the world.you are also unhappy about yourself.you cannot change the world.but you can do something about yourself.if everyone did something about themselves the world would change.you control your pain and suffering.indulge yourself in them and life will be unbearable.stand up and fight, and your life will be worth living.the final choice is yours.do not seek help elsewhere.all you need to know is inside you.you can see it if you are honest about yourself to yourself.you know very well what is wrong with you.if you have the courage to admit it, good.if you don't...your choice.no one can make you happy.no one can live for you.it is all about YOU.do or die.

If you won't listen to bible thumpers, then why not listen to that wise old country doctor, Dr. McCoy from Star Trek. He said "In this galaxy there’s a mathematical probability of three million Earth-type planets. And in the universe, three million million galaxies like this. And in all that, and perhaps more...only one of each of us. Don't destroy the person named..."
Okay, so he is a fictional character who was talking to another fictional character, Captain Kirk. I get it, it is a little dorky to reference Star Trek, but it is still an eloquent way to make a simple point about the uniqueness of the individual.

No, because each soul was created by God for a purpose. You have a purpose greater than you are aware of even if you're surroundings are unpleasant. Once you stumble into it you'll apreciate the life given to you, or perhaps you are created to complete someone elses life. You're soul is given to you as a trust, it's not yours to decide it's fate entirely. Life is hard sometimes, but reach to God and call him to give you ease, change your conditions, and find you're purpose in life. God does not create people in waste and every soul will be accountable for how she/he spends their life.
P.S. if you're living in the U.S.A. than you got it goood.. try living in a third world country where you have to go through hell just for clean cup of water. Yet, their suicide rate is lower than the U.S.A .... They live under such hard conditions..its hard to believe even I have doubts on their suicide rate ...maybe no ones counting properly.
suicide is selfish...especially when you have people that care about you.
Take care.
