the question should be 'Do you have the same values as God does?' and if not 'are you willing to change your values/ standards to align with God's?
Why would it be dishonest to do so? If you believe in God and believe that He is the ultimate authority, that His ways are perfect, then would you not want to lay down your own ideas and align them with God's?
There may be things that you don't understand or at first 'feel ' like you don't agree with but God is God, how do you not agree with the creator of the universe- the Father of all things- He made it that way and He said it so any other ideas , no matter how good they sound are just going to be wrong. When we can admit that and align our thinking (taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ) , our standards and values to God's, forsaking our own, (lean not on your own understanding) things would go a lot better for us.

There's no way to know the full values of God, and God or no god, life has rules.
We can change our values to suit any purpose, be it to please God, ourselves, or others. It wouldn't be dishonest, but it would certainly depend on weather or not someone is fully dedicated to changing, or could be resentful for some reason. It would have to be an mighty faithful 'assumption' to supposedly be pleasing God to begin with.
God does not sacrifice his own righteousness, for our sakes, or for the sakes of others.

Only one thing we can do to please God is to accept His Only Begotten Son, Jesus, as our Lord and Savior. Then we put on the righteousness of Jesus in the eyes of God. From then on we try to live like Jesus would have us to live, and study and grow in the church, the Holy Spirit will give use the correct values without our having to strive for them. They will be gifts of the Spirit. Don't need to worry after you accept Jesus--He will take care of the rest.

God is love. His whole character is tied up in one word 'Agape' meaning the God type of love. For God so love that He gave... Jesus said Moses said an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, but I say to love your enemy as yourself. It's only a man who has experienced the agape love of God can really love his enemy. So yes we can change to please God.
