I have a 2 -1/2 year old daughter and I am expecting. I just got hired on to a company in the accounting department. I have an okay job and I have to keep a full-time job to pay bills. But I want to go back to school and get a degree. Better yet I want to be a pharmacist, and it takes a lot of time and classes. How can I juggle all of these things at once?

I'm a single mother of two, I work, and I am in college part-time. The ONLY way I was able to go to school was by taking online classes which is why I'm going part time. I'm taking a program through the local community college, so I know that I'm not getting jipped education wise, and I am only required to keep up with my assignments and projects and attend a lab class 1-2 times a month.
Personally, I have to keep a pretty tight schedule and make sure that I am SUPER organized. I get everything ready for the day the night before after I put the kids to bed and before I study. I am also lucky enough to have a job that pays well, and is slow enough that I have a lot of time to study during the day.
It's hard, but it can be done. If your husband is willing to help out, and you can figure out a way to do it (maybe night classes, or working evenings?) you should really have no problems. It is a huge investment in time and energy, but it's only short-term and the long-term effects are better than the current... Good luck to you!

Major time management! You don't have to necessarily be a pharmacist tomorrow... so I would do that part-time... possible a couple evening classes a semester... it will take longer but you'll be there for your children (which in the end you won't regret and is much more worthwhile!). Remember age is just a moment in time... don't put pressure on yourself by saying "I have to accomplish this by this age" etc. Focus on family (and your job 2nd only because it has to pay the bills) and everything else comes in a distant last.

Best wishes. Just take things one day at a time!

I don't know of any College of Pharmacy which allows part time students. It normally takes 4 years to become a pharmacist. However, there is one online based program at Creighton University.

You dont mention family support or a husband. These are things that can help tremendously. Realize that with your job and children, you cannot take on a full credit load in school so it will take you considerably longer, but I commend you for looking to the future.

i think you can juggle all 3... but keep in mind that you may need to sacrifice somethings to keep them in order. you may need to sacrifice your time with your family and you may need to sacrifice some potentially-earned money, so that you can go to school. if you really, really want to go back to school and you think that whatever career you want to pursue, will make you HAPPY -- then i say go for it and follow your dream. if you are doing it because it pays more money or other shallow reasons -- i'd say it's not worth it. your goal in life should be to be in a place where you want to be in and be happy (meaning being content and satisfied with what you have).
