i agree with Clarkie. I have dealt with this in my family, and it is definitely how drinking affects you, not how often you do it... However, this misconception is a commonly made mistake..

Could be, there is a term "weekend alcoholic" but they are not true alcoholics but binge drinkers. Real alcoholics could not care less whether it is the weekend or not. Believe me I am one. There have also been papers written claiming that some nuns are alcoholics as they display withdrawal signs if they do not have their wine at Mass on a regular basis.

I doubt that statistic. Alcoholics are 24/7 drinkers. I know, my father is one so were my grandparents before it killed them.

probably there is no hard and fast documentation for this...
Anyone who drinks even one time a year and cannot stop till he/she is inebriated is probably an alcoholic. Alcoholism is not so much about how much you drink or how often you drink, but what the first drink does to you...

That's a lie.....I never drink when I am alone...I always have my two dogs with me........And I never drink on the weekends.....I just don't stop. I usually....hic up drink starting Monday sometime and don't stop til the following..hicup.....monday. So I am going to disagree with you there buddy!
Alcoholic's are just people who like to pee in their pants and have no idea how it got there!
They also like to crash where ever they can...if the bed looks inviting...they'll sleep....and when they find out in the morning they slept with the towns ugliest woman...they drink to forget it.
