Hi, I recently met a woman who is five years older than me, Im 24 and shes 29, she's called me several times since we met last week, she wants to get together and go out this weekend...my question is, what are the pros and cons of dating a woman who is older and has young children, a little boy about 5 or 6, I dont mind the fact that she has a little one or that she is older, and I do like her a lot, her son Ive yet to meet. Thank you folks, have a nice day.

Pros: She's been around this earth 5 years longer than you and the average 24 year old 'gal'.

Read: more mature, experienced, certainly more responsible and likely to be balanced because she juggles various roles and tasks daily.

That she wants you in her life despite being older and being a mother means she values her own happiness and is willing to share it.

Maybe you have swept her off her feet and she wants to land safely and naturally in your arms!

There is also nothing wrong if her son considers you a 'father figure', but what is important is that you feel up to the role and want to share in this mother's duties.

Cons: People will say her son will always come first or that she may have little time for you, but really it's more a matter of how well you communicate, have the same'vibes' or find each other consistently interested or attracted to one another.

If you worry about how family and freinds will react, you probably shouldn't let it go too far.

But younger guys with relationships with older women will tell you they have something special (not necessarily surrogate moms!).

It's got less emotional ups and downs and can be a real anchor as well as the catalyst in your life.

And for some reason some of us just get more out of the older-younger equation!

Go for it, man!

And good luck.

Pros - you found someone you like. Cons - thinking long-term, women tend to age quicker than men, and have a shorter reproductive "life span". When a man's 45, he can still pass for being in his late 30s sometimes... But a 50-year-old woman often looks like she's, well, 50. Dating someone with a kid - I consider it a con, personally, I would not want to take on a responsibility of raising someone else's child; but for many people, it's not a problem. A pro would be is that if you have one child, he/she will already have a sibling. It all depends on your perspective of things. I think, my main concern with such an age difference would be the aging factor.

The pros to this relationship is that she won't play games, she'll be direct about what she wants. She knows what she likes and doesn't like so there's a little less mystery here, she'll tell you exactly what she's thinking. Older woman tend to go for younger guys so that they can dictate the pace of the relationship or be more in control of the relationship.

The cons to this relationship - She has to be direct about what she wants as she has a child to consider. The child will always come first before you. Generally woman who go for younger guys have control issues (she got burnt on past relationship and now she's compensating with you!)

Every relationship has pros and cons so if you like her and your ok with her situation then ignore all this and go for it, your young what have you got to lose?

Pros: one thing to think about is if you become serious, then you will already know how she is as a mother because you will get to see how she is with her son and vice versa she will get to see how YOU are with her son.
Cons: well with anyone with children you have to think that if you become serious you may have to deal with the father
also I don't know if this will come into play or not I know with my step-parents most of them treated me differently than the way they treated their own children. That may not come into play I don't know. Another thing to think about, with her having a son you may not get as much time together as you would like if she can't find a babysitter etc. but you already said that you don't mind her having a son so that may not matter. In any case good luck :-)

If you are looking for someone who is mature, I'm sure she would be much more mature than a typical girl who would be several years younger than you are. I have always had good experience with older women, I married one!

there isnt anything wrong with dating anyone older, as long as the two of you care about each other and are happy age doesnt matter.
