If you tell your friends you are selling insurance policies, will your friends avoid your calls?

Becoming an insurance agent is not as easy as most people think. You will need to take a pre-licensing course for a certain amount of hours depending on which line of insurance you are interested in. Then you will have to pass their school exam and then you have to pass your state exam. Some companies will sponsor you so you don't have to pay for it. You should work for a company that is willing to train you and when you get some knowledge in the field you should work on your own and go through a general agent. (You will make better commissions this way and the general agent does most of the work for you).

Just keep in mind that the pre-licensing course will not teach you much about the real world of insurance. They tell you on the first day, "You are not here to learn about insurance, you are here to pass a test!"

It is a good job, but it is hard at first. Some companies will pay you a small base salary, plus commissions and over time make you 100% commissions. At first you will have little to no commissions, but as time passes you will build up a book of business. The great thing about health insurance is at every renewal you will get another check (unlike life insurance where you get one check and thats it.)

Your friends wont avoid your calls unless you are pushy. Most will be happy that they can get insurance from you because they know they will get the best service possible.

Good Luck

Being an insurance agent can be fun, but i would not call it easy. There are so many different types of insurances, a lot of the "simpleness" will depend on what type of insurance you are selling.

Insurance laws change all the time, and usually just as you learn something get it down, it changes. So it can be a bit complicated.

I write about half my friends insurance, I just don't mix business with pleasure... If were goin out for fun u don't try to sell them insurance on girls night out.. ya know.

It's a booming industry and if you don't mind change it's a great place to begin a predominant career...

If you have a really good plan, they will be calling you! I have had one for years that I had to chase the guy down to subscribe to. It is good, and it is popular. I don't know if you have heard of it, or what kind you are wanting to sell. NMC for cars, etc. I only pay $6 a month and I have used it for a lot more than that over the years! If you just have the run of the mill stuff, your friends will probably avoid you unless you are the kind of person who does NOT mix business with pleasure. Don't mention it unless they ask!

Is it a good job? It can be. Is it easy? Not if you do it right. If it's easy, you're probably doing something wrong - which will come back and bite you in the butt.

Regarding your friends - don't sell them policies, and it won't be an issue.

It's a profitable business. Go into life insurance and investing. You'll make over 100,000 a year easy. It's not easy and It's not difficult. It seems difficult in the begining but it gets easier and easier

Selling insurance can be lucrative, but it’s also tough. It’s a job based on commission, so it may be hard during your first few years. You also need to be licensed.

What job in the world is easy?
The most important thing is liking what you do, not because it is easy. E.g. filing documents is easy but not all people like this task.

It is like a snowball rolling downhill. It takes awhile to get it going but once you have it rolling you can make your own hours and help people with something they all need but hate to deal with.
