Depending on your age and genetic disposition, you may not have much of a choice. Conventional remedies include:

Reducing Caffeine like coffee and coke.

Reduce eating out where most places use Monosodium Glutamate, MSG. Unfortunately, many italian, chinese and quasi french restaurants use MSG to have you back for more.

Sleep deprivation and work stress over a period of time causes hair loss; get 6 to 8 hours of sleep and destress.

Drink more water, like 8 glasses a day minimum. Increasing Vegetables as part of your diet like kale, also helps to an extent.

Some shampoos are too strong on the scalp. Use a mild shampoo or neutral shampoo for a while and see how that goes.

Get a special shampoo for psoriasis reduce dry scalp, and conditioner.

Avoid bleaching hair and colouring unless you can fork out the cash for ceramic rebonding.

Change you pillows to non-biological fabrics to reduce off chance of allergies.

Additionally, some women loose hair around the birthing stage of their lives. That is usually temporary.

All else fails, you might want to see a doctor or tricologist if it is a genuine hair loss problem or a cause of some other hidden illness. Good luck !

No, shampoo is going to stop hair loss. What you need to do is take a few days off of school, work, boyfriends anything that is stressing you out and just RELAX.

It is common to loose 500 strands of hair a day. Some people notice while others don't. I wouldn't worry unless you see bald spots. You could try using a shampoo that strengthens hair strands.

If you dye your hair a lot, this could be the cause of hair loss. Stop dying and use a restorative shampoo and conditioner.

I'm having the same issue; I lose a ton in the shower especially, and I can see thinning on top. I'm going to see my doc about it. Do you take birth control pills? Some comments on a message board I read recently related hair loss to the pill.
