I personally don't think that cohabitation is a good idea. Current research shows that people who live together before getting married actually have higher rates of divorce and lower levels of marital satisfaction than people who don't live together before they get married (source: my college "Family Relationships" textbook).
Just something to think about....

Somewhat. I think that people have the opportunity to know more about one another before saying I do. The problem is that some never progress to marriage. They accept living together as a way of life, consider those in the home to be their family, and then forego the act of marriage because it does not directly change their environment or circumstances. Is cohabitation acceptable? Well for Christians, no. But even they sometimes break the rules.

Well, it's certainly not working right now.
Cohabitation is okay if you're not going to have kids, but if a kid is on the way, don't be afraid to sign on the dotted line committing yourselves to one another.
Do it for the kids.

Yes (in a way), but trust me, it ALL changes after you say "I DO". Im not sure why, it seemed like blinders came off after the wedding.

No it doesn't. Some people just use it as a crutch for financial gain. I also think people go even crazier because they don't have their space anymore.
