So? When I was 10 years old, I met a lady that was born into slavery. I became her friend until she died 2 years later. That's when I discovered that she was 110 years old! Can you imagine? She was born before the Civil War and she was around before indoor plumping, toilets, electricity, light bulbs, telephones, airplanes and TVs... she was around during the Civil War, the Spanish American War, WW I, WW II, and died around the time of the Korean War! She'd tell me about the beatings her mother and father got, how they sold off her sister and brother... how her father ran away after he was whipped for stealing a few fruits from the ground by a tree; she never saw her brother or sister or her father. She doesn't know if her father was captured and killed, or if he escaped. Her words made my eyes tear, and seeing her tears fall from her nearly blind eyes made me really cry. Her broken English was somehow more eloquent than any words I read about the Civil War and the cruelty and inhumanity of slavery.
She was such a dear lady.
You're a very fortunate person to have a friend that has lived so long. Learn from her experiences; she lived through the history you read about.

Not at all .. some elderly people have plenty of wisdom to share, if we would only take the time to listen. Plus, it's great to hear about how life was when they were young.
Enjoy your time together! :-)

Hi I guess if you are much younger than she, you probly bring lots to her life...It's hard for older people to build relationships cause sometimes those people pass on...You sound like a sweetie she is lucky to have ya!
