The FSM is not something one believes in.

The FSM is reality.

FSM means "Flying Spagetti Monster" - it's a parody religion. It's members are called Pastafarians.

Parody religions are usually created to make a point. For example, the Landover Baptist Church makes the point that no Christian can follow all the rules in the Bible.

The FSM religion is used most often to refute the fallicy that an unbeliever must disprove the unfalsifiable claims of religion. This is another take on the analogy of Russell's Teapot. (See my sources for the Teapot analogy)

Other unfalsifiable religions are Last Thursdayism, and Invisible Pink Unicornism (pbuh).

In a nutshell, when a True Believer tells me that I must believe in God because I can't disprove God's existance, I immediately am able to show this to be a logical fallacy by proposing that the believer must (by his or her logic) immediately believe in The Invisible Pink Unicorn.

(As a side note to the Pastafarians here, I gotta admit that the FSM is really cool, and that I love Pirates and the Stripper Factory, but the IPU (bless her holy hooves) has shown me her pinkness and has blessed my pizza oven! Let's get together for a pizza and pasta potluck sometime, okay?)

The FSM is the counter to other religions claiming through faulty evidence theirs is the one true way. As an atheist, one of my primary reasons for discounting other religions is this. So I find the satire in the FSM religion enjoyable. Not to mention it's got pirates, a beer volcano and a stripper factory.... I mean, if I had to pick a religion and this was real, I'd go for it.

We don't actually believe in the FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster).

It is a parody.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is our parody of organized religions. If you don't consider yourself an atheist, agnostic or pirate, you probably won't get it.

Atheism: the theory or theory that God would not exist. that's what my dictionary says. that's what I see all dictionaries say. that's what I hear all atheists say. that's what the Greek ability: a (without) theos (God). in case you ask any atheist despite if or no longer he believes in God, he will answer, "of course, no longer!" Atheists purely backpedal as quickly as a Christian starts thinking their good judgment.
