I would quit using the pullups. I have 3 boys, two of which are potty trained (the other is just a baby.) I tried the pullups myself, because they market them so well in ads and on tv. I'm telling you this, they really aren't worth the money. They are nothing more then a diaper that is easier to take off. Your son knows this. He knows that it is ok (even though you say it isn't) to go in the pullup. I have learned from experience with my boys that consistency is the best thing. I would get rid of the pullups, and use underware (not the thicker ones, just regular underware) that way he feels when he has gone. You should also ask him every so often if he has to go, just to remind him. I don't see anything wrong with letting him run around with no pants on while at home and training. I did the same thing with my boys, and they were both trained in a week. The biggest thing is to stay consistent...even if you are going out you need to not put a pullup or diaper on. Just put him in underware and tell him how much of a big boy he is and keep telling him how proud you are. He'll catch on and even though you may have a few accidents, it will be all worth it in the end.
Best of luck!

I hear the pull ups confuse them.To much like a diaper. Maybe you can take him shopping for some big boy underwear and let him pick them out!! the have some realy cute ones! maybe he won't want to soil his new chosen underwear. I would try the cheerios trick. put a few in the potty and let him aim and sink them. Good luck!

I'm going through the same stuff with my little boy. I'm sure it's totally normal. Just stick with regular underwear or no underwear when you can, only use pull-up diapers when you can't afford cleaning up a mess.
Eventually I think he'll be able to communicate better and go potty more often.

You're doing fine, just be patient with him.
Use cotton, not commercial pullups. The cotton is uncomfortable when it is wet and the pullups feel dry, it will take longer if you use disposables. Maybe keep him home a few days with just underwear on, see how that goes, I am sure the accidents will be fewer and farther apart.

Don't ASK your kid if he needs to go -- your kid will lie like a rug, everytime, guaranteed. Just keep an eye on the time, and every hour or so, you annouce, "Let's try some potty time, kiddo!" and you have him pull his pants down and try to go. Keep him on a regular schedule for potty time -- every hour on the hour, and EVERY time before you head out of the house to go to the store, and EVERY time when it's time to leave preschool and head for home, etc. Be consistent, and eventualyl he'll catch on.

What labored for us is merely letting our son stand on a stool and sweetness of press him up against the rest room. I merely say,"Make some peepee!" and supply him some seconds. It takes a minute, yet after they go, you would be able to make a super deal out of it---do rewards like another human beings suggested. We used lollies---those little dum dums artwork nicely simply by fact they are small, yet a good manage. another component we did grew to become into use his action figures/Diego doll to fake they have been peeing interior the potty. Then we could all clap, say "hooray!", and so on. as quickly as he observed how ordinary it grew to become into, he grew to become into good approximately going. First we had to easily take him each and every 2 hours or so--now he we could us understand whilst he has to pass. do not neglect, whether he is going purely a tiny bit--rejoice. And, on each and every occasion he has injuries--which he will---do not make a super deal out of it. it is going to come finally!! good success! :)

Little boys love to emulate their dads. If he sees how dad goes to the potty, with his "pull-ups" on, I'm sure he'll want to do it just like him.

My niece finally went to the potty. She is 3 years old. We put her in regular underwear and when she would poop we would make her sit in them. She found it so nasty after a while that she stopped doing it! Its gross but she learned

well dont let him run around naked. Like any other child, he will not like to have soiled pants all the time and will soon come around when he is ready! keep working on it, he'll come around.
