Yes just make sure that you pierce it several time with a fork or knife just as you would a potato to keep it from exploding from interior steam buildup. Cooking time depends upon the size try it in two minute increments and test with a fork until it feels tender then serve as usual.

Sure! Pierce 'em with a fork a few times & start experimenting. I'd start with a few servings to blast for about 5 minutes to test. If you want them softer, cook 'em longer. Poke a fork to be sure they're fully cooked. Depending on the microwave power, 'High' it until you get the hang of it. The ones in the middle will cook faster than the ones around the edge so distribute them evenly around the edge to allow a uniform consistancy. They're just spuds so you should have it mastered within a 5 lb bag. If one MUST eat starch, the nuke method at least saves time & works perfectly fine. If you're cookin fer one, center it & keep adding a minute at a time til you have it to your desired density. I'd suspect even a low wattage microwave will fully cook a solitare within 7 minutes. Probably faster if halved or quartered.

Wash sweet potatoes. Puncture a few times with a fork. Place on paper towel on microwave-safe dish. Cook on high for 4-5 minutes for the first potato, plus 2-3 minutes for each additional potato. Turn over potatoes halfway through cooking.

Don't bake it in the microwave, but after it's baked you can use microwave to reheat pie.
SOUTHERN SWEET POTATO PIE
3 or 4 lg. sweet potatoes
Boil sweet potatoes until tender. Cool, peel and mash until fluffy.
Makes about 6 cups. Add:
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. butter
1/2 c. milk or cream

yes you can, but first you must either cut it or poke it a few times with your fork. your microwave should have a potato setting or just nuke it for 5 to 10 minutes.

Micro is the best way to do it. Tastes completely different than oven bakes and doesn't have stuff running out of it. How long depends on the size, but usually a couple of minutes per potato. Check to see how it feels. It should be soft to the touch when it's done.
But DO remember to pierce it before you put it in the oven, or it will explode, just as it will in a conventional oven.
