Yes, and I've grown out of it a little. I never ate fruits and vegetables (with the exception of potatoes) because of how they felt in my mouth. I'd drink juices or have something like tomato sauce, but that was it. Somewhere along the way, a doctor told my mom to stop forcing anything on me, probably thinking I'd grow out of it. It took about 20 years. :-)
For one thing, I learned that lettuce does not have to be just iceberg and actually has to be washed! Heh. Now I can eat romaine and various greens and spinach (though not out of a bag lately...) Dressing also does wonders.
In the last 10 years, I've started being able to eat apples, oranges and onion rings (?). That doesn't sound like great progress, huh? But I continue. Two weeks ago I tried a form of squash and liked it. I think a lot has to do with things being well-prepared. So we have to push ourselves a little, but not too much. At least that's my story.

My mother says I'm still a picky eater but there are several food items I use to hate that I now either like or will tolerate. I did find that since having my baby, there are some things which I hated pre-pregnancy that I now love and visa verse. Go figure!

I wasn't a picky eater when I was young, but I knew people who were. Most of them grew out of it as they got older. In general, most people who were picky eaters when they were young have grown to like more foods as they got olders. Now, I love discovering new foods; things I haven't tried before. It's great.

I was pretty picky growing up, and grew out of some things, but not all.

When I was 21, it hit me that I suddenly LOVED asparagus. I could eat a whole bunch of it and make a meal out of it. :) I also like eggs now, but not all ways--only deviled or an omelete with LOTS of filling. Still can't eat fried eggs though. (gag) I also like artichokes now.

There are a few things I still won't eat. Any kind of organ meat (shudder) and certain vegetables (mostly greens). For the most part, I eat most things I hated as a kid.

I was a huge picky eater. I haven't really grown out of it (27 years old) but as long as i'm part of the food prep process, I'm game to trying more things.
It has improved, but I'm still categorized as picky.

I certainly was as a child.. & now eat a good balanced menu.
Small children have very sensitive taste buds, so many foods are just too strong for them.
Think about how strong Brussel Sprouts are to you as an adult, well it's much worse for a child.
