I have sporadic sore throat and coughing, chest pains, nausea, and hoarseness. Usually the symptoms occur seperately or in pairs. Could I have acid reflux disease?

Acid reflex disease can be very serious. It can cause alot of problems including gastrointestinal bleeds and aspiration pneumonia. I sounds like that is what you might have. BUT, see your doctor first. Don't treat your self. OTC medications can have serious side effect when mixed with other medications. Just because it is OTC does not mean it is always safe to take. You may had H pylori of another problem that needs to be treated.

It can be acid reflux. There can also be more serious things that cause these symptoms. Please get it checked out. It may be "only" acid reflux, which should not go untreated either. Besides medication there are life style changes that can help with acid reflux. Fewer or no carbonated beverages. No citrus juices. Sleeping with your head elevated. There is a lot of good information out there once you find out that it is acid reflux.

There is no such disease. It is just a name the advertisers made up to scare the crap out of consumers who weren't paying enough attention to their new miracle drug to prevent heartburn at only 100 times the cost of a TUMS tablet.

Whatever you have if you ask the Doctor about it and tell him you think it is acid reflux disease he will think you are an idiot. Maybe you have a cold.

I had very similar symptoms. Went in and had a blood test, chest xray and a sonogram. Nothing showed up. They put me on Prilosec and I've felt 80% better. ?? It's available over the counter, but you should probably go ahead and get checked out to make certain that you don't have anything more serious. Hope this helps.

That sounds pretty severe...you should go to a doctor and get that taken care of. I saw my doctor last week for acid reflux and he just told me to take prilosec which I have been taking 1-2 per day and haven't had any acid reflux. What you have sounds like your esophogus might be severely damaged. Get your esophogus checked out immediately. You don't want it to get any worse and you don't want to continue feeling miserable.

Yes, you porbably do. I have acid reflux, and I don't have heart burn hardly ever...I think I've had it once but then again I was pregnant so it really doesn't count.
