I am looking for a career in the Veterinary field as a Vet assistant. Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, and Hotjobs.com have no postings for this particular profession. Where can I find them?

There are always listings in the pet trade magazines:

http://petbusiness.com
http://petproductnews.com

If there aren't any listed in your area, call a few local vets to see if they need assistance. Be proactive.

Good Luck!

Most vets require their techs to be licensed. Are there any collages in your area which offer Veterinary courses and degrees? A RVT or a CVT is the best way to go, other wise you will probably have to find a job as kennel help.

If you can find a kennel position, you can still work with the animals and learn as much as you can on the job and go to college at the same time and earn your degree. Even zoos require a degree.

Have you tried other possible job titles in those other sites? I've heard it also called "Veterinary Technician" Maybe there are even more?

The Dictionary of Occupational Titles has some other possibilities: animal health technician, Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Certified Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary Laboratory Technician (Veterinary Lab Tech)

Small town circulars where small businesses and individuals take out ads. Around my area they are called "Rare Reminder" or "Yankee Flyer" or "Penny Press". They always have ads for vet techs, assistants and kennel workers.
