You don't. You either accept the fact that he is this way, and realize chances are that you will have to pick up after him, file his papers, keep track of when bills need to be paid, ect. At best you could work on these things together, that way your not doing it all alone. I have one of these guys and I used to complain all the time about it, and expected him to conform to the way I did things. BIG MISTAKE! I finally woke up and realized that the dis-organization wasn't killing anyone, that arguing over it wasn't worth it and not everyone is good at being organized. I love him the way he is, faults and all. I also found out if I just asked him to take care of something, he would, in his own time.

You don't change them. I am disorganized and my husband is a neat freak. It creates some trouble here and there. When I was growing up, my parents always harped on me to stay neat and organized, but to no avail. They have to want to be neater, then try to find ways that are easy to be organized. My problem is laziness and lack of motivation. Easy organization is how it works for me.

You can't. My husband and I have been married 11 years. We have a great marriage, but he is a slob and I am a neat freak. So the way we handle it is let each other be. He tries to remember to pick up after himself. and I don't bug him about it. But I know I will never be able to change the way he is so I just accept it.

They have to want to make the change, as with anything else. You cant make someone become organized.

I think the more you try to tell them what to do, the more they will refuse. Somtimes people need to learn by making misteaks on their own. I think life needs to change them... not other people.
