My family.. myself, husband, two children (ages 5 and 2) want to go to arizona for christmas. We're leaving from airport CMH to airport PHX on dec. 24th and staying to dec. 29th.. any suggestions on how to get the best deal.. trying to find something for about $250 a ticket.

Booking last minute packages has been cheaper for me the last 3-4 I've had to fly out of town in a hurry. I've used Orbitz, Expedia and Amex's last minute deals. They all access the same information. I found the exact same last minute deals on all sites with a few $$ in price difference. Even the website layouts are identical.
While the airline tickets were $600-700 per person, I was able to book air, car and hotel for 2 people at $300. The hotel had 2 queen beds. Airline pricing is ridiculous. I will always check packages first before booking air alone.
I've been lucky with hotwire.com once with airline tickets.

Buy your tickets EARLY. Also, the best time to purchase airline tickets is between 1 and 2am. Try shermanstravel.com

I find that SideStep.com, which searches dozens of the major airlines and travel discount sites, provides the most affordable plane ticket choices. You may also want to search the discount airlines such as jetblue and southwest.

If you left on Christmas day, or after Christmas, flights will generally be cheaper.

shop around.. first check different ariline sites to get a base price.. then shop online or travel agents for their prices.. if you have a bit of flexibility try priceline.com.. ..
