Yes, I know, open mouth, bite, chew...I'm way ahead of you there! I mean can you eat the whole thing, skin and all or just the pink fleshy bit in the middle?

Ok, that'll do. I've eaten it now, it was nice.

I'll pick a best answer later.

Yes, you can enjoy the skin and all. And they are wonderful. If you are lucky enough to have a neighbor who has a fig tree that grows in the sunshine and you can pluck a warm fig from the tree --- mmmmm. I think what Adam offered Eve was a fig, not an apple.

Fresh figs are eaten "as is" (cleaned first in cold water and dried) You can wrap them in thinly sliced Italian prosciutto and serve as an appetizer or hors d'oerve. Or, stuff them with goat cheese and sprinkle chopped walnuts on top. For a dessert, halve them & put on ice cream the a little honey on top! Bon Appetite!!

You can eat the whole thing. Try baking them for a few minutes in a hot oven with a drizzle of honey. Cut a cross in the top and drizzle the honey into this. They are ready when they open up slightly. Scrummy, almost as good as eaten straight from the tree on a warm mediteranean evening.

I am very lucky in that I have two very nice fig trees in my yard. They usually ripen in July. When they reach a purple tint they are ready to be pulled. I just pull them off , wash them and then eat them whole. They are delicious indeed.

You eat the whole fig but do use a napkin otherwise the juice runs down your hands and onto your arm!
Delicious!

You can eat the skin (dried figs have the skin on), but it doesn't taste nice. Make sure you wash them first if you do, however, I would suggest cutting them in half and just eating the yummy middle!

You can eat the whole thing. The most delicious way to serve them is to cut them in half, sprinkle brown sugar over the inside part, put them under the grill for a few minutes until the sugar is melted. Absolute sex on a plate!!!
