No that is not the way to cook turnips. They should be peeled and then cut up into small chunks and then boiled in lightly salted water until tender and then drain the pot and you then mash them like you would make mashed potatoes. Add salt, pepper and butter to taste and serve. I lost 65 pounds on the Atkins DIet three years ago and I kept the weight off, didn't go hungry, and am still alive. Like any diet you must stick with the program. Atkins Diet is not a killer diet like some pople say.

Turnips are too bitter to bake like a potato.

You cut them up and mash them like mashed potatoes with butter, milk and suger to take away the bitterness.

You can always roast them in oil which may work on the atkins, but again may be too bitter, the roasting may bring out the sugars.

yes you can..

also i'd recommend your husband try a different diet.

atkins is a killer diet. it will fail him shortly and he'll be starved for food.

try something better once he's tired of atkins or gets sick from it.

a WELL BALANCED diet is better with proper exercise and hydration.

yes,,,,
you can essentially "bake" anything.

try putting a few in an oven bag (maybe cut them open or quarter them?)with other ingredients ie: spices/onions/butter, etc......... should be good actually.
