Sylvia Brown....?

Question

Who believes that Sylvia Brown plants people in the Montel audience to ask questions to her, so she will seem psychic? John Edwards (the medium) used to do this...Its called parapsycology..Telling greiving people what they want to hear...that is why he is no longer on TV

I actually do not believe in psychics as someone who can tell the future....
I do believe that they are very talented at reading peoples emotions and facial expressions... It just seems that a lot of what shes tells people, especially about hauntings, are things that these people could have looked up themselves in public records. Like who died in the house, or on the property, and how, and also who is barried there.

Well John Edward is on TV. His show is called John Edward Cross Country. He still holds seminars in a regular basis. I have not seen Sylvia Brown except on Montell. I think they both have a gift but because of the media attention they have to fabricate things in order to keep up. I have never met either of them and I don't really care if I do or not. I would be nice however for someone to take the million dollar test and prove they are psychic.

I find Sylvia Browne entertaining, but I don't believe everything she says. And whether we're talking about her or John Edward, remember we are talking about television which can be edited to make them look as genuine or as fake as the person doing the editing chooses. I don't think watching either on television is a fair assessment for either position you want to take on this matter.

Personally, I'd like an opportunity to be read by her or John Edward or James Van Praagh to see just how good they really are. I think it would also be a little more fair than judging them based on what I think without experiencing it first hand.

And two small notes.... Parapsychology is a field of study - basically studying phenomena that may be perceived but that is not easily quantifiable. And as far as that Randi character, I find his motives for choosing to be the diehard skeptic and trying to publicly "debunk" psychics just as suspect as someone claiming to be able to talk to the dead.

She's a fake James Randi has been waiting 5 years for Sylvia to come fourth and take the definitive test to prove her powers. I do belive there are people who have a psychic gift but you won't see them on tv and they shun publicity the real ones work with the police and law enforcement to help find kids or solve crimes.

The jury is out on Sylvia - some believe, some don't. But the answer to your question is that Montel Williams would never allow that to happen. He is very careful, and always has been, about that sort of thing. HE hand picks some of the guests for Sylvia to "help" but it's like trying to get into Fort Knox. No one but him knows who they are in order to avoid what you are suggesting.

Edwards did a combination of cold reading (i.e., guessing) and hot reading (i.e., cheating).

Brown almost certainly does both as well.

Since they're on TV, they also certainly use another important psychic technique known as "editing".

She could just be good at reading faces...lol there are ways to spy on people in the audience and they can plant people to talk to you about why you want to be up there...you tell this "innocent" person why you want to see your loved one and they pick you b/c they know about you...cameras and videos during the commercial break, people plants, face reading...it's not difficult if you have the omney and some scam talent.

I do believe in the paranormal, some aspects of it anyway. I do believe psychic abilities exist.

However - my strong left-brain orientation requires me to doubt anyone who claims to have such incredibly strong powers. I'll keep an open mind, but .....

FWIW, I actually know next to nothing about SB. JE, on the other hand, I did see in person. Unfortunately, no one wanted to communicate with me!

i am not a fan of Sylvia's but i am shocked to hear that about John Edwards .. not even sure if that is true
but i would recommend not believing everything on TV regarding mediumship .. as it says at the beginning of these programmes , " for entertainment purposes only "
i would suggest going to spiritualist church if you wish to see genuine mediums working and not putting on a show for the camera

I think she has a gift...but mabey not to the extent that they say. have you ever read any of her books??? she has many. I would like to see some of the audience members come back and tell us if what Sylvia said came true.
