In one sense he is.
If it is true that we are made in the image of God then this implies not only that we are like him but also that he is like us.
This might supply an understandable reason for him creating us in the first place. Maybe he was lonely. Loneliness is a human feeling but if we are made in the image of God then we could ascribe it to him too - or at least it would be possible.
But he must be more than human to have created the Universe of course.

I personally believe in living prophets today, and they confirm to us through revelation that God has a body and is a man, glorified, perfected and exalted. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints. If you looked in our Doctrine and Covenants ( one of our scriptures) we learn in secion 130 verse 22 that God has a body.

God is invisible to those who He doesn't want to be shown to. Moses saw God ( exodus 33:11) and the New Testament says Moses saw He who is invisible ( Hebrews 11:27). Genesis 1:26-27 says that man was made in the image of God. In Genesis 5:3 it says that Adam had a son in his image, so we learn here that the word image is talking about what God looks like. He looks like us. John 8: 17-18 confirms that God is a man.
Knowing that God is just like us in many ways and that He is our Heavenly Father helps me to understand my intimate relationship with Him. I know He loves me and I understand more of what He wants from us. He wants for us just as an earthly father would want for his children: to have as much happiness as possible.

Before Jesus, God was in no way human.
Because of Jesus, he is fully human.
There are a great many people who are not visible because they are not in some sense here now. In a similar sense God is invisible.
