I believe in ghosts but my christian friend says there is no such thing ..now im all confused...whats the deal

Ghosts are living beings who do not have gross material bodies. We have our gross body, made of earth, water, fire, air and ether and our subtle body made of mind, intelligence and false ego. Ghosts do not have gross bodies. For their past sinful activities they are punished by having to live only in their subtle body for certain time. Their life is full of suffering.

ghosts and spirit are very different things .. but there is good evidence of both
spirit is the part of us that lives on after death ( or soul if you prefer )

but a ghost is an energy that is left in the atmosphere
like a memory of what once was
many people who report ghosts usually report repetitive actions
a man walking in the same way over and over again
because the ghost is not a consious entity
it is simply replaying like a video .. and will eventually play out

the best reporting i have heard of was one of roman soldiers who walked the same path constantly .. but the path was 15 inches below the surface of the modern path .. so all that was seen of the soldiers was from the knees up

If ghosts exist, and they may, they may not be what they appear to be. They may not be what "experts" claim to know that they are.

Assuming your background is as Christian as your friend, spirits are mentioned in the bible in several passages. It is forbidden for a child of God to communicate with spirits. We should leave it there considering the general background of the Answers community.

I'm christian and I believe in ghosts. I've had experiences with Jesus.(I saw him when I was 12 years old). I also know my deceased husband helped me with my 10 month old grandaughter in a time of need. By the look on her face, I know she saw her Grandpa Brian, too. Maybe God sent him to us when He knew we needed him. :-)

Depends on the ghost.

If you believe in the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit, then yes. He is the Spirit of God, imparted to believers in Christ to lead us in our Christian walk.

If you are talking of spirits of dead people, then no. The spirit of a deceased body is either in heaven or hell. It does not wander about.

There are spirits (fallen angels) who do the work of Satan, tempting people to do wrong, sickness, anger, etc.
If you are not careful you can give that sort of spirit authority in your life.

As a protection for us, God recorded in the Bible that the dead are consious of NOTHING AT ALL. He also made the consequences for attempting to contact the dead, death to the one trying. This wasn't because he was mean, but because he was trying to protect his people from being misled by demons posing as dead humans. Ghosts are demons. They are not dead humans. They are soooooooooooo dangerous. Be careful, my friend.
