In India, states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and North-East where tobacco consumption is high, 60 per cent of cancers in men are related to tobacco. These include oral cancer, lung cancer and urological malignancies.

The people eat Tambul, made by putting raw beetlenut under the ground and then consuming it in semi-rotten form. The juice is a deep red color that stains gums and teeth for the rest of the day.

Whilst the effects are limited to the individual, smoke has a larger surface coverage, where the next person in line might as well be a smoker.

Both forms of addictions and social habits largely through peer pressure in developed countries are equally as bad, differentiately only by the consumer and potential affected people.

I think both are bad in their own way. But if I had to choose which one is worse I'd say chewing tobacco. Smoking does get in your lungs and in your blood stream and it effects everyone you smoke around. But chewing tobacco can cause mouth sores, which can lead to mouth cancer. Also with chewing you are swallowing the stuff and that can lead to ulcers and many other forms of stomach problems. I have also heard of people, who chewed for along time, losing their teeth and part of their jaws. I think also it affects people at a younger age. Plus I think its gross to spit. Just my opinion.

Do you mean smoking cigarettes or chewing tobacco? I think it would be smoking cigarettes because there are so many more chemicals. Plus, you are inhaling it, so all that stuff is going into your lungs, and then from there, into the rest of your body through your bloodstream. At least with chewing tobbacco, it's a little bit more localized

Both are very harmful.. but i feel its chewing tobacco which does more harm.. because when u chew it, its affectin full mouth.. it decays ur teeth, spoils ur face and gives u good chances of mouth cancer in a very short span of time... where as in smoking u just inhale the smoke and some people dont even do that.. so its not so harmful

crack. meth. heroin.

D'OH! I read that as "what is worse THAN smoking..."

Both are addictive, both will cause cancers. However, generally it takes a long time for lung cancer to rear its ugly head. Oral cancers have been known to appear after only a few years of steady usage (of smokeless tobacco).
