You'll be able to get into a lot of colleges; however, you may have trouble getting into the more competitive colleges.

Most people get a GED when they don't like high schol and want to leave early. That's the stigma (even if a person gets a GED after dropping out). It's tougher to get into college - a good college. Also, there is something intangible about toughing things out. Employers don't want fiar weather employees. They want their employees to be the type that stick with the job, even when times get a bit tough. Longevity at jobs through high school and getting the full diploma is an advantage over getting a GED and leaving early.

With a GED you will probably have to go to a community college for a year before you can go to a 4 year school. Most 4 year schools require a grade point averave that's why. If you were planning on getting an associate's degree, then you are set with a GED. Don't sell yourself short though. If you can get that diploma, then my all means, get it.

Well, you may have the same opportunities with a ged.
But either way they will be minimal without a college education.

You learn things throughout high school that you will not learn by getting your ged. I learned the hard way when I went out into real world with my ged (although I lied & said I had my diploma).
Social skills, being a leader, team building, lots of things you will only learn by staying in school & learning as you go.

Today I'm taking my last class, I will have my collge degree!

Hang in there, you could do it if I can.

you can go to a community college and then transfer to a university if you want to(after a certain amount of time and grades)i have a ged and had no problem getting into college good for you for wanting it. either way your better off than with nothing, but wait - if your still in high school , graduate. its a personal thing though i would have felt better if i had got an actual diploma

No transcript to show colleges and vocational schools. Also some employers value a high school diploma over a GED because it shows the person stayed in school and didn't quit.

Once you earn higher degrees, the way you completed high school becomes irrelevant at some point. If you're not planning to continue your education it can affect how you look on a resume compared to other job applicants. If you would like to work in a professional (white collar) setting...try to graduate.

Employers tend to look more favorable on resumes that list "high school diploma" then "ged" according to a college professor of mine.

although its presented as techniclly meaning the same thing, there are some diffrences. Certain colleges require certain ged scores and or avergages in HS to attend.
It certainly doesnt look as good on a resume. If you are just planning to attend your local college after reciving it, it probably wont be much of a diffrence.

You have to make up the credits you lacked to graduate high school in college, at least that is the way it is in the state of Tennessee.
